Umbrella Insurance: The Superman Policy Perhaps the most well-known superhero of all time is Superman. He’s got everything. He is "faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, and able to leap tall buildings in a single bound." His only weakness is Kryptonite. He is the model of honesty, justice, and humanity. Basically, he’s the man. Of course, many people prefer other superheroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, or Spiderman. These superheroes have their own strengths and weaknesses and are very cool in their own way. Batman is very thrifty and brave. Wonder Woman has her cool magic outfit. Spiderman is very smart and gets to be a mutant. They each take care of their cities in their own way. Batman’s got Gotham covered, Wonder Woman has D.C., and Spiderman takes care of New York. Super Man is primarily located in Metropolis, but he tends to wander farther afield than his fellow superheroes. This is why these superheroes provide the perfect analogy for Insurance. We can say Batman is auto insurance because he has the Batmobille. Wonder Woman can be travelers insurance because she has her invisible plane. Spiderman can be renters insurance since he tends to move a lot. Superman however, will be umbrella insurance since he runs around doing pretty much everything.
One Policy to Cover All Now this illustrates the problem many people have with Superman. They say he does too much. It’s unrealistic. Besides, the other superheroes take care of their cities without much of a problem. So who needs Superman? It’s true that where one superhero is, others are usually not needed. But on occasion, backup is necessary. That is why Superman is kind of handy. He can go anywhere in the blink of an eye. He can fly around picking off stray problems that the others can’t cover alone. He does a little of everything. The same goes for umbrella insurance, the Superman of insurance. Even though you may already have auto, travel and renters insurance, there are occasions when a problem or issue is just too big for one insurance policy to handle. That is why an umbrella insurance policy is a great thing to have. It will cover left over expenses when regular insurance reaches its limit. It can cover sudden, unexpected, or rather unusual issues that no other policy is able to cover.
Emergencies Happen So while some may scoff at the idea of an umbrella insurance policy, there may come a time when those scoffers may need it. Emergencies are not a time to be picky or prideful. When disaster strikes, you are going to want all the help you can get. Don’t assume that Batman will be able to solve your every problem. Despite how awesome he is, even Batman needs help sometimes. Don’t refuse the help of
Superman just because you wear Batman underpants. So get your Auto Insurance, Travelers Insurance, Renters Insurance and Kemper Insurance in Frisco, but remember to back yourself up with the Superman of all insurance policies: your umbrella insurance.
