FOUNDER’S STORY

IT BEGAN WITH A QUESTION

“Why do people travel all over the world to serve on mission trips when we have enough work to do in our own local communities?”

My wife and I had joined a small group at our local church. Our small group leader had to go in for surgery, so I was asked to lead the group the following week. I was headed to church with my wife to pick up the DVD for our small group study when an international mission trip commercial came on the radio. I asked my wife, “Why do people travel all over the world to serve on mission trips when we have enough work to do in our own local communities? That’s stupid”

When we got to the church to pick up the DVD my pastor handed it to me However, he wouldn't let it go and instead asked me to come into his office. He said that God just told him to ask me a question. We went into his office and as I sat down, he said to me “God just told me to invite you on an international mission trip to Ukraine. Does that mean anything to you?”

I was dumbfounded. It was not ten minutes before I was saying how stupid international mission trips were.

There was no way he could have known that I said that to my wife! We were driving in the car 60 miles an hour down the highway. I was shocked, and to be honest slightly confused. I couldn't understand what was happening. I told him I would pray on it and left the church. Interestingly, there was a sudden change in my attitude. It was as if I could feel the shift within me I knew that I had to go

The rest as they say, is history That first year was such an impactful experience that as soon as I got home, I went online and bought the domain impactukraine.com. I didn't know what I was going to do with it, but I waited on God to reveal how I would use it. After three additional trips it became clear to me my mission

God had supernaturally and strategically placed individuals in my life that I was called to love, be in relationship with, and support.

I have maintained these relationships over the years, and they have been some of the most important relationships in my life. I had no idea that when I first went to Ukraine what we would be involved in.

With the war, the work that we do in Ukraine has changed. We mostly provide humanitarian aid, but it is amazing how God introduced me to amazing people who are now caring for so many others I have no grand illusions that we can save a country, for me this is not political, this is about providing hope, aid and community to people that I love…my 8 to 15.

The Power of Oikos in Our Ministry

In the Bible, Jesus uses the Greek word Oikos to refer to those people in our relational world. It is these people who are transformed by our testimony, our influence, and our relationship. It is through this principle of Oikos that the gospel has grown since the days Jesus first met with the disciples, his own personal Oikos. Through these relationships of 8 to 15, that God has supernaturally and strategically placed in our lives, we can change the world

Three members of my Oikos; Dawn Marcus, Tim Lake, and Greg Westling through their Oikos relationships with Yura Fedyruk in Ukraine, Juan Carlos de Grandes and Pastor Jorge Pinto in Honduras, and Dr. William Kyagulanyi in Uganda expanded our work globally. Each of these individuals has their own network of 8 to 15 people, who in turn have their own Oikos of 8 to 15. Through this process, one person is now reaching thousands globally through the principle of Oikos. This demonstrates how one person’s efforts can create a ripple effect, touching lives worldwide Through trust, collaboration, and shared goals, our ministry continues to expand, offering support and guidance to countless individuals

Making an Impact

Project Manuelito

We support Project Manuelito, a non-profit Christian organization, which was born with the purpose of rescuing, educating, and providing comprehensive training free of charge to boys and girls in and on the streets of Honduras.

Project Manuelito is now a sprawling 26 acre compound that was born in the Evangelical Church of Holiness Love and Life of Tegucigalpa in 1999, as a vision of love that the Lord placed in the heart of Rev. Jorge Alberto Pinto Martinez, who embraced with love, dedication and sacrifice the mission to save street kids.

Caring for the most vulnerable people

Project Manuelito is a ministry to children who have lived in and on the streets of Honduras. Having been homeless as a child himself, Pastor Jorge Pinto led his church in a project to help get kids off the streets. Project Manuelito focuses on housing and caring for both girls and boys who have been abandoned by their parents and have been exposed to abuse, illness, drugs, and violence

Our vision is a world where every child in the region of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, who has experienced abuse or neglect, is given the opportunity to thrive in a safe and loving home.

Education

The primary purpose of the Manuelito Project is to provide comprehensive coverage to these children and young people through the Casa Hogar, which becomes a home for the children. There we provide them with food, education, socio-emotional support, health (externally), and everything that leads to the child's physical, moral and spiritual growth. We want to see them educated and ready to be reintegrated into their communities as productive members of society

In addition to the care provided to the children who live at Project Manuelito, who come from different cities in the country, we also extend our support to other children in the Talanga community through the Basic Education Center (CEB), where children and youth receive quality comprehensive education, a snack and lunch Through the CEB we serve a total of 146 children from the community It is important to emphasize that the CEB of the Project Manuelito was initially created to provide education to the children of the Project, seeing the need in the community, Project Manuelito decided to extend its support free of charge to children and youth, whose families have little or no economic resources, in the community of Talanga.

Food Arrives at Project Manuelito

Thanks to a partnership initiated by Impact World Change, Projec thousands of people both on-site and within the community. We h solidarity can make a difference in the lives of thousands of peopl

The decision to go beyond the Project’s walls, has allowed us to arrive with blessings to places we never imagined.

In October 2023 IMPACT lead a collaboration between Project Manuelito, OAA, USAID, and ART to deliver food to the community of Guajiquiro.

The project fed over 2,000 people and in a community filled with challenges, their actions demonstrate that we can be a beacon of love and life for thousands of people in need.

Food Production Process Initiated

One of our new long term goals for Project Manuelito is self sustainability, so we have started producing food for the children's food security, to sell, to trade, and also to bless those in need.

With Hands and Hearts United...

we have embarked on a journey of sustainability and food security. Every seed sown and grain harvested becomes a symbol of hope. We are grateful to the support we receive that is moving us towards a manifestation of love, life, and light; radiating positive change in a community.

Making an Impact

Impact Ukraine

Our Ukrainian ministry partners have indeed risen, in Christ’s name, to serve their people and nation. The result has been perhaps the strongest wave of people coming to faith in Christ, throughout the global north, in our lifetime! As such, there is an unprecedented opportunity and need to start new and missionsminded churches across Ukraine. Our partnership with Ukrainian churches spans more than three decades and are another example of the power of Oikos.

Mark 5:19 exhorts us, "Go home to your own people (your oikos) and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you."

IMPACT

U k r a i n e

BEFORE FEBRUARY 24, 2022

Before the war, our work consisted of church planting, kids’ camps, English classes, small groups, picnics, community cleanups, and more…

AFTER FEBRUARY 24, 2022

After the war, our mission became about humanitarian aid. We continue to provide food, medicines, clothing, generators for heat, and more...

The Power of Community

Through 8 churches and 2 other organizations, led by individuals that we have Oikos relationships with, we support the important work that God is doing in Ukraine. Together with our supporters, we are making the greatest IMPACT possible.

Hope After a Massacre

The Bucha massacre was the mass murder of Ukrainian civilians and prisoners of war by Russian Armed Forces during the fight for and occupation of the Ukrainian city of Bucha amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Photographic and video evidence of the massacre emerged on April 1, 2022 after Russian forces withdrew from the city.

One of our strongest relationships is with Pastor Vasily Fuerta, Deputy to the President of the Baptist Union in Ukraine. He was able to bring much needed support to Bucha within days of the attack with an armed security force escort. His group included other pastors, journalists, and elected officials who witnessed the destruction first hand.

Because of the relationships we have on the ground and the sacrifices they make to go and serve in the most dangerous of locations, we are able to experience what is happening through their eyes. It all becomes very personal to us and we are so grateful to you that we can support our brothers and sisters in circumstances like this.

Today We Are Providing Hope Amidst Crisis

Since the invasion in Ukraine, our ministry has dedicated itself to restoring a sense of normalcy for the communities we serve, with a special focus on the youth. In these challenging times, we aim to provide a haven of love and kindness, ensuring that young people feel supported and cared for Through our efforts, we not only address their immediate needs but also share the gospel, offering hope and spiritual guidance. Your support is crucial in helping us continue this vital work, bringing light to those navigating through the darkness of conflict.

One of our primary relationships is with Yura Fedyruk of Open Heart Church in Zolotonosha This deep and enduring relationship is built on mutual trust and a shared vision for community transformation. Yura's unwavering dedication and compassion for the people of his community inspire us daily. Due to the extreme need and surge of refugees in his community, Yura has obtained land through a generous donation. Impact is now focused on raising funds for the building of a larger church to serve the community better.

Making an Impact

Impact Uganda

Our ministry transforms lives through fresh water drilling, faith-based education, food provision, and church planting We provide sustainable clean water access, nurture minds and spirits through education, combat hunger with nutritious meals, and establish vibrant churches to spread the love and message of Jesus Christ. By addressing physical needs and fostering spiritual growth, we aim to bring hope, health, and lasting change to Ugandan communities.

Impact Uganda is working with Dr. William Kyagulanyi in Uganda, Africa to provide a well ministry where he is a specialist Our work is focused on supplying groundwater and wells for each village and school We have a broad aim of uplifting, standardizing and upgrading the lively hood of people in most disadvantaged rural areas of Uganda.

Dr. William Kyagulanyi received his qualification for well drilling and was given permission to work from the Ugandan government. Using the drilling machine, compressor, and excavation equipment equipped with various drilling accessories, we share information and technology with nationally specialized institutions for geological understanding and water quality inspections.

Faith and Education

Additionally we support the construction of schools and churches for the purpose of education and job skills development. We help to establish churches and schools for evangelization and literacy in Africa. Through education and the Gospel, we develop the power to live on this land. We provide jobs to the socially disadvantaged and help them realize their potential and become self-reliant.

Feeding Communities

The ministry we provide has become a beacon of hope for the local community by addressing one of the most fundamental human needs: food. Through their dedicated efforts, the ministry has established a robust food distribution program that ensures no family goes hungry. Leveraging strong relationships with local farmers and international donors, we provide nutritious meals to countless individuals, particularly focusing on vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and those affected by poverty and unemployment. Our commitment to alleviating hunger goes beyond just food distribution; we also educate the community on sustainable agricultural practices to empower families to grow their own food, fostering long-term self-sufficiency and resilience.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Whether your church or organization already has mission or service-based projects or is exploring ways to get involved, we believe that hosting an Impact World Change event could inspire and mobilize your congregation and/or members in new and meaningful ways Our events are designed not just to inform, but to connect your community to the broader global church through the power of relationships

We offer three unique event formats that showcase how God works through these Oikos relationships to accomplish His mission:

Worship Night

Our Worship Nights are heartfelt gatherings centered on song, prayer, and testimony, reflecting the Oikos principle by bringing people together to experience God’s presence through collective worship. Led by our team, including Ukrainian refugee Mariia Kharytonova, these nights include small group prayers and powerful testimonies that demonstrate how relationships across continents are making a tangible impact

Cultural Night

Celebrate the cultures of Ukraine, Honduras, and Uganda with a Cultural Night that brings the Oikos principle to life. This event is more than just a fundraiser; it’s an opportunity for your congregation to engage with the stories of individuals and communities whose lives have been transformed through relationships. Whether your church is looking to start its own mission projects or support existing work, this night will inspire and equip your congregation to see the global church as one interconnected family.

Message and Devotion

We would love to share a message during or after one of your services, focusing on the biblical concept of Oikos - how God’s kingdom grows through relationships. This sermon will inspire your congregation to see how God works through relationships, both locally and globally, and to consider how they might engage in mission outreach, whether by starting their own projects or supporting ours We believe that by nurturing these relationships, your church can be a part of something far greater than any one of us could achieve alone.
