亲爱的学生和家长们， 真快又过了一年！2021年对我而言是颇具挑战性的一年，我相信这对 大家 来说也是如此。话虽如此，这一年也并不是没有好事发生的的一年。 伴随 着今年即将结束，一如既往的，这是一个让我们自我反思和 思考我们在这 一年来所收获的时间。将这些收获一一列出，数一数这些 收获吧！身为学 校校长，我有以下的感恩事项： 1.

What is your Superpower?

As a kid, I would sometimes find myself dreaming: I would imagine being a footballer on the world stage, or being able to fly like Superman. As I grew older, I wanted to be able to teleport, maybe because I didn’t want to waste time on the road. But perhaps all my imaginations of having these superpowers would likely just stay a dream…

At Seri Jubli’s year-end dinner gathering, I asked a few questions to all the teachers and staff. First off, ‘Who has watched the Marvel Superhero movies before?’. All but one person put up their hands.

Second question, ‘What do you think is your superpower?’ Several interesting answers were: 1. Food hunter, always knowing where to get good food.

2. Being Dramatic, she insisted that it’s not easy and hence it qualified.

3. Maths, according to a Mathematics teacher.

In the 1980s, Jim Gentes was on the streets trying to get by. He tried selling weed to a manager, but instead, struck up a conversation with him. The manager didn’t buy the weed, and offered to help Jim get a proper job at his consultancy firm and eventually got him a job as a boat maker.

A couple of years later, the consultancy firm was hired to redesign bicycle helmets. They wanted a more child-friendly, light-weighted helmet that wouldn’t injure a child during

impact. Jim overheard the conversation and commented, “What if I made a boat the size of a human head?”. And that is how the modern helmet was invented. Today, Jim Gentes runs a multi-million-dollar company called GIRO that specialises in helmets and various head protections.

Why would a consultancy firm hire a weedselling junkie? Was it because of his skills and abilities? No, it was because the manager genuinely cared for him as a person.

What then is Seri Jubli’s superpower?

Many people and parents have said that Seri Jubli is a very caring school. Every year, the school organises a school camp where all the teachers and students go for a time of teambuilding. The school also has a buddy system where each secondary student is paired with a primary student to take care of them. The teachers would also go out of their way to care for the students. After all, how often do you hear about a School Principal gaming with the students to spend time with them?

Seri Jubli’s superpower is that she truly cares.

No matter who, or how, we will go out of our way for our students. This is our culture, our identity, our ethos.

Seri Jubli seeks to provide an alternative education in this community, and aspires to build global citizens who are able to make an impact in society and change the world. We believe that one size doesn’t fit all, and that in every single child, there is a purpose for greatness. With a bit of care, genuine love and journeying with them to explore life, we believe that there are many more Jim Gentes out there.

每 一年，学校都会组织年度营会让全体师生一起参加各 种 不同的活动。此外，学校还有一个同伴系统，每位中 学 生都会与一位小学生配对，并且照顾他们。老师们也 会 倾心倾力地照顾每一位学生。你可曾听说校长会跟学 生们一起玩游戏？

在致理国际学校的年终晚宴上，我向教职员们提出了一 些问题，我先问了“谁看过漫威超级英雄的电影？”。 除了一名职员以外，在场的所有人都举起了手。

致理国际学校的超能力在于拥有一颗真诚的关心。无 论 是谁，或者是用什么方法，我们都会为我们的学生 竭尽 全力。这就是我们的文化、我们的身份、我们的精神。

我再提出了第二个问题，“你认为你有什么超能力？” 而现场有几个有趣的回答：

STUDENT’S CORNER SPORTS CARNIVAL & YEAR 6 GRADUATION In this issue of Jubli Times, we’ll be looking at the two main events that took place before the Year-end School Holidays – Sports Carnival and Year 6 Graduation.

YEAR 6 GRADUATION On the last day of school (10th December 2021), there were many exciting events that took place. First, there was the SJ Picture Day where students could come to school dressed like any character of their choice while taking their class photos. There was also the Awards Ceremony where the school acknowledged and presented awards to all the winners of the different competitions, both academic and co-curricular, that took place this year. And finally, there was another special event – our Year 6 Graduation! This was the first time that we held this event. 12 of our Year 6 students successfully graduated from Primary School and will be starting Year 7 in 2022! Here are some of their best memories so far as well as their thoughts about graduating and starting Year 7.

I really treasured that time because it was the last time I was going to meet them this year. PAST EVENTS

SJIS OPEN DAY 2021 On 18th December 2021, we successfully organised our first physical Open Day for this year! We honestly did not know what to expect when we decided to organise it, but we were truly overwhelmed by all the support and people who turned up. Thanks to everyone’s willingness to observe all the SOPs, we were able to carry out all our activities smoothly. We would also like to thank KPJ for sending their team to conduct free health screening during the Open Day. Here are some of the activities that took place: FREE Trial Classes (Art, Science & ICT) Life in Seri Jubli Showcase Campus Tour FREE Basic Health Screening by KPJ Kluang Many thanks to all the teachers, staff and students for their hard work as well! We couldn’t have done it without you!

CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY CAMP We successfully completed our Christmas Holiday Camps on 21st and 22nd December! During the camp, students got to learn different subjects such as English, Science, Mathematics, Art and Sports through Station Games! Here are some activities that took place:

21st December (6-9 YO) English (The Story of Christmas), Art (Making Santa Claus), Mathematics (Find the correct answer on the Christmas tree ornaments for each Math question)

22nd December (10-12 YO) English (Making a fruit stick with strawberries, bananas & marshmallows while learning the connectives), Art (Design a surprise gift box), Science (Making catapults, Sports (Giant Tic-tac-toe).

We hope that all the students had fun while learning!
