Weareexcitedthatthegovernmenthas allowedschoolstoreopen.Asmuchasweare lookingforwardtoschool,weunderstandthe concernofparentswhenitcomestothesafetyof havingphysicalclassesagain.Thus,Ibelieveitis appropriateforustoshedsomelightonthematter.

Onthe11thofFebruary2021,Bloombergfeaturedavideo documentarybytheHeadofInfectiousDiseasesResearch atMurdochChildren’sResearchInstitute,NigelCurtis,titled ‘WhatWeKnowAboutKidsandCOVID-19’.Inthevideo,he elaborateshowtheCoronavirusaffectskids,assuringus howchildrenareNOTthemajordriversoftransmissionin thecommunity.Hementionsthattheageprofileofthe Coronavirusinfectionisuniqueincomparisonwithother infections,makingchildrenundertheageof20 lesssusceptibletoCOVID-19.Ratherthanbeing wearyofthehealtheffectsofCOVID-19on students,heinsteadpleadsfor governmentsandschoolleaderships tolookintotheshort-termandlongtermeffectsonstudents’emotional andmentalhealthduetotheclosureof schools.

MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL

Ontopofthat,theCentresforDiseaseControland Prevention(CDC)havesupportedsome emergingscientificevidenceonCoronavirus transmission.Theyhavecitedthat transmissionfromsurfacesandoutdoor activitieshaveverylowrisks.Ontopofthat, socialdistancingandthewearingofmasksare excellentwaysofpreventionasweknowit.They havealsoprovidedguidelinesforindividualsand organisationstousetoassessriskswhenit comestotakingprecautionstoensuretheenvironment issafe.

TheLeaderonomicsAnnualLeadConvention,anational eventendorsedbytheMinistryofEducation,isheldevery yearwithathree-foldpurpose–tocreateinteraction amongstudentsfromvariousschoolsinMalaysia,to motivateourstudentswithinspirationalstoriesandto implementtheMakingADifferenceProject(M.A.D.)to showcasetheleadershipqualitiesofthestudents.

Thisyear,SeriJubliInternationalSchool(SJIS),Kluang,Johor, hasbeenselectedtohosttheevent.Whatisexcitingisthat SJISwillalsobeplayinghosttootherstateslikeKelantan, Terengganu,PahangandMelaka.Studentsfromthese schoolswillbecomingtoparticipateandcompeteinthe JohorLeadConvention(JLC).

interactingwiththeteachersofthesestatesto buildastrongerbond.TheSJISstudentswillalso beintroducingtheuniquenessandbeautyof KluangtowntotherestofMalaysia.Weare callingthe4M.A.D.ProjectsofSJIS–Love Kelantan,LoveTerengganu,LovePahangand LoveMelaka.These4projectswillempowerthe student-leaderstoenhancetheirleadershipand peopleskills.Thestudentswillberequiredtouse the7POrganisationalconcepttoexecutetheir tasks.Asagestureofmutualfriendship,next yearin2022,ourfriendsfromtheEastCoastwill beorganisingPantaiTimurLeadConvention,and willhosttheSJISteam.Thisindeedisagreat opportunityforSJIStoenlargetheirsocial interactionandlearningexperience.

AmainfeatureoftheJLCwillbetheM.A.D. ProjectPresentation.Youwillseestudentsfrom otherpartsofMalaysiapresentingtheProject Banjir–anefforttobringawarenessorpropose arescueevacuationplanfortheircommunity. Therewillbecorporatejudgesfromthe communitywhowillbeevaluatingandawarding pointsfortheireffort.

WearealsoproudtoannouncethattheLeaderonomics

ClubinSJIShasgrownandnowmultipliedinto4Clubs (Aeris,Aqua,IgnisandTerra),eachledbytheirownstudentleadersandteachers.The4ClubsinSJISwillbehosting thesestatesaspartoftheirM.A.D.Project.Betweennow andJLC,theSJISstudentswillbereachingouttotheirnew friendstofindoutmoreaboutthecultureandschoolsin theserespectivestates.TheSJISteacherswillalsobe

Wewouldliketoinviteparentsandfriendsto joinusforthisexcitingevent.Wewillbewatching andcomplyingwiththeSOPandwillkeep parentsinformedofthelatestupdatesaswe drawclosertotheevent.OurplanBistodoJLC onavirtualplatform–whichisanotherexciting storybyitself–withgreaterparticipationfrom Malaysiaaswellasothercountries.

Leaderonomics年度领导⼤会是⼀个备受教育部认可的年度性 全国活动。此常年⼤会的三⼤特点为：让全国各地的学⽣建⽴互 动关系，⽤⿎舞⼈⼼的故事来激励学⽣，并⽤“MakingA DifferenceProject(M.A.D.)”以展⽰学⽣们的领导才能。

今年，致理国际学校被选为活动的主办⽅。令⼈振奋的是，致理 国际学校也将会作为东道主，招待吉兰丹州，登嘉楼州，彭亨州 和⻢六甲州等州属的学校。这些州属的学⽣将前来我校参加柔佛 州领导⼤会(JohorLeadConvention,JLC)

我们也很⾃豪地宣布，致理国际学校的LeaderonomicsClub已 ⽇益壮⼤，成功扩展⾄4个由导师及学⽣领袖所领导的学院 （Aeris，Aqua，Ignis和Terra）。致理国际学校的这4个学院 将⽤主办⽅这个任务作为他们的M.A.D项⽬。从现在开始到此盛 会，致理国际学校的学⽣将开始接触他们的新朋友，以了解不同 州属的⽂化及个别学校。致理国际学校的⽼师们则会与这些学校 的⽼师们进⾏互动以建⽴更牢固的关系。与此同时，致理国际学
