A pediatric intensivist directs care using a multidisciplinary team approach, including surgical and pediatric subspecialists, pediatric pharmacists, nutritionists, respiratory therapists and social workers. Services available within the pediatric intensive care unit include conventional and unconventional modes of mechanical ventilation, extracorporeal life support, dialysis and hemofiltration, and both invasive and non-invasive cardio-respiratory monitoring.
