EXPERIENCE ART ADMINISTRATOR
Associate Director. Percent for Art, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, New York
I am interested in further exploring ways to manage, advocate and promote public art to be used as a tool for social engagement, civic pride and economic development. I believe that Public art’s success highly depends on the intersection of three major components: pieces of high artistic interest; an adequate understanding of the environment; and the active involvement of the community. Fulbright Scholar, NYU M.A. in Visual Arts Administration Candidate and M.S. in Architecture, I am an insightful global abstract thinker: visually-driven, creative person that pays attention to small details but always keeping the big picture in mind.
Promote creative placemaking through public art by co-managing all phases of development and implementation of 88 public art projects with a total allocation of $9.7M in five boroughs of NYC. Unify the brand narrative for Percent for Art by aligning communication channels such as website, social media, brand presentations with its vision and developping marketing and leadership strategies. · Curate and present national and international artist roster for review by selection panel for new commissions. · Manage artists throughout design, fabrication, delivery and installation stages (projects span an approximate 2-4 year period). Select artwork site and coordinate architectural integration. · Facilitate project coordination with stakeholders: artists, city department and agencies, architects and elected officials. · Create framework to track impact of Percent for Art by developing the first interactive project database. · Proposed campaign for program awareness in partnership with MTA Arts and Design.
