Exclusive interview of Mr Hinault, Projects Manager at LATESYS
Looking for a compact lift solution for the Airbus A330 Neo assembly line in Nantes, I first thought of using single actuators but, during my exchanges with the SERAPID team, a turnkey solution was offered to me. The ergonomic equipment “TRIPODE” was then designed. It allows the safe assembly of large volume circular parts located at the reactors. We collaborated on all phases of this project with one main SERAPID contact, Mr. Thomas Loeuil, with whom I enjoyed working especially for its methodology and management. The 4
Event: our presence at FabTech Mexico
In this issue of Chain Mail, we are highlighting some particularly complex projects recently completed for our clients; another example of the passion and skill of our teams.
“I knew SERAPID thanks to a colleague based at Toulouse who had already used the Rigid Chain Technology for the needs of one of his projects. I was surprised by the variety of applications of this solution, especially in the entertainment industry.

The project involves modifying High Bay 3, one of 4 bays in the VAB at NASA‘s Kennedy Space Center in Florida for the processing of the agency‘s Space Launch System (SLS) rocket. NASA is developing the heavy-lift SLS rocket to expand human presence to deep space destinations taking astronauts farther into space than ever before. High Bay 3 has 10 levels, each with two massive steel platform halves measuring 10.6m/38ft long and 18.9m/62ft wide, mirroring each other in shape. Each level is installed at key points along the body of the rocket to provide access needed for launch preparations. When the top-level platform is installed, it will tower about 105.5m/346ft above the ground, or nearly 35 stories high. These platforms are attached to rails to provide structural support and are equipped with SERAPID LinearBeams to provide the precision motion to move each platform in and out. As each rocket level is completed the platform halves are closed to surround the rocket. The SERAPID LinearBeam system was selected to move the platforms based on stroke length,

The TriMast - Reliable, stable and easy to use The SERAPID Telescopic Mast has been designed for unsurpassed stability under all types of conditions. In addition to the unique push-pull characteristics of the Rigid Chain - the backbone of the system - there are multiple engineered elements, such as intermediate guides and snug-fitting pad bearings, to ensure safe and reliable lifting. This gives the lift column a high static capacity allowing it to remain stable while holding a load for indefinite periods, and has minimal deflection even at its maximum height. The mast is readily programmed for precise, incremental and repeatable movement for raising or lowering the load, with the ability to lock in position for extended periods. The Rigid Chain is electro-mechanically motorised, does not rely on gravity for retraction, and is well suited to harsh conditions and severe weather. Operated by a single motor, the 3 masts are synchronised and operate seamlessly as one unit; the positioning is done with a programmable cam switch at the base.
