Happy Thanksgiving!

Count your blessings is the old saying, but I’m not sure if I can count that high. I have a wonderful family. Don’t get me wrong we aren’t perfect, but they are mine and I love every one of them dearly. I have many friends and a few that I am especially close to. I have a growing church family. I just told my husband the other day that I meet the nicest people in the business world everyday. The interesting thing is that I’m not alone. Most of us enjoying our lives as Americans are blessed beyond what people in other parts of the world could even imagine. How is it then that every now and then I get a little bit blue? I have discovered that when I begin to think a little too much about me, disaster is right around the corner. But, if I am counting my blessings and being a blessing to someone else my blues will turn into blue skies. As I was doing some research on Boomer and Senior trends, I discovered that during the holiday season there is a distinct increase in depression, especially among those over 55. The reasons that were given had to do with being lonely, health issues, separation from family and money issues. I want to dedicate this issue to anyone out there that is dreading the holiday season, or just is fighting to stay out of a funk. I want to challenge you to make a difference in someone’s life. There are several opportunities in this edition to help someone else. You might be surprised how much better you will feel when you are blessing someone else! Happy Thanksgiving, TABLE Volunteer Opportunities

Springfield Little Theatre presents: “Our Town”

Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Revival. Described by Edward Albee as”…the greatest American play ever written,” Our Town is beautifully evocative, exploring the lives of people living in a small, quintessentially American town. The play focuses on three aspects of the human experience: Daily Life, Love and Marriage, and Death and Eternity. Its universality, its simplicity and its immediacy have made it a classic. Our Town is a hauntingly beautiful play, powerful, warm and deeply human. To purchase tickets, please call the box office at 417.869.1334

Many people ask, “What is Medicare and how does it work?” I like to keep it simple. Medicare is health insurance for people 65 or older, people under 65 with certain disabilities, people of any age with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD - permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant). “How does Medicare work?” There are basically four parts of Medicare: Part A, Part B, Part C and Part D.

Medical Benefits Group 417-725-0440 1-800-770-7041

Part A: Is Hospital insurance which helps cover inpatient care in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, hospice, and home health care. Part B: Is Medical insurance that helps cover doctors, outpatient care, and home health care. It also covers some preventative services. Part C: Are Medicare Advantage Plans (like an HMO or PPO) that are run by Medicare-approved private companies. They include benefits for Part A, Part B, and usually other coverage like Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D). They may also offer additional benefits such as vision, hearing, dental, and wellness programs. Part D: Is a prescription drug plan run by Medicare-approved private insurance companies. It helps cover the cost of prescription drugs, may help lower your prescription drug costs and helps protect against higher costs in the future. Please remember these important dates! 2012 Annual Enrollment Period dates: 10/15/11 to 12/7/11 (Pearl Harbor Day). http://www.medicare.gov
