Tend a garden; enjoy a summer tea party The following is news from the senior centers in Chester County: • COATESVILLE. The Coatesville Area Senior Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. A nutritional breakfast is available at 8:30 a.m. each weekday. At 10 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, join Jenn for Cardio/Tone, a fun, energetic class that uses weights and cardio exercises to build strength, cardiovascular health and improve balance and flexibility. The center hosts yoga at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays and Wii bowling at 1 p.m. on Friday, plus a variety of health and wellness programs, including diabetes seminars, stroke screening and medication management. The center hosts Apprise counseling, psychological counseling and free blood pressure checks. Help plant and tend a garden at the center at 11 a.m. every Tuesday. Learn to care for plants or lend your expertise. • KENNETT SQUARE. Kennett Area Senior Center regular on-going events include respite programs for caregivers, computer lab, Friday night bingo, fitness programs, daily lunch, duplicate bridge and Tuesday and Thursday evening line dancing. Bingo Night is held every Friday. Doors open at 5 p.m. and bingo begins at 6:30 p.m. No one under 18 admitted. The cost is $15 per person. The annual garage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 8, featuring home decorations, kitchen supplies, appliances, puzzles, toys and refreshments at the new food court “Oasis.” “Freedom Rings” is the theme of the Afternoon Tea Party at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 11. Fine teas and delicacies are served. The cost is $10 for senior center members and $12 for non-members. For reservations call 610-444-4819. The next free blood pressure screening will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 13. The screening is available to anyone 60 and older. No appointment is necessary. “Sunday Dinner with Friends” from 1 to 3 p.m. June 23 will include an image and sound presentation of the 80th Wilmington International Exhibition of Photography, featuring the best pictures from 3,474 entries from 37 countries. The cost is $10 per person. All are welcomed regardless of age. Call the senior center a week in advance for reservations. There will be a book talk by Donna

Assistance is provided in the areas of organizing, downsizing and consignment; daily money management, and minor home repairs and maintenance. Surrey at The Hickman provides transportation services for seniors, including those who may qualify for need-based transportation subsidies. • SURREY SERVICES FOR SENIORS. Surrey Services in Berwyn has provided services to seniors in Chester and Delaware counties for 30 years.
