March 2006 Dear Prayer Partners, I can’t believe it’s already March 2006. Our original goal was to arrive in Croatia this month. That wasn’t God’s plan and we are glad that He is so much smarter than we are! Some important things have been going on that are best done here in the U.S.A. Praise! • We have been presented to the Twin Cities Missions Support Consortium by Pastor Countryman and have had some very good follow-up meetings with the churches in that consortium. •
Ian received an official diagnosis regarding his learning difficulties. His Reading Recovery teacher suggested that we have him evaluated for Asperger Syndrome. We took him to his pediatrician, a pediatric neurologist, and a neuro-psychologist. The result is that Ian is struggling with Dyslexia, ADHD, and Asperger Syndrome. We are thankful to know what we are dealing with and with the knowledge that he has a normal IQ. In response to this diagnosis, prayer, and wise counsel, we are again educating Ian at home.
We were blessed by the opportunity to spend some time with Steve Meeker, SEND’s Country Coordinator for Croatia, while he was in the States for a class.
Lily had a great time spending a week with Michael’s parents in Iowa without us. This was her first time away from the rest of us for so long. Simultaneously, Ariél was blessed to spend a week with Brenda’s mom learning home-economics skills from a master.
Petition! • Please pray that people and churches would continue to partner with us in prayer and finances so that we can leave for Croatia in September. If we are on track, Michael will stop working at the end of May so that we can do our final training and transition. •
Pray that we would learn how to train Ian in all areas of his life, i.e. academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually, in light of his particular challenges.
We have been struggling with our health, especially Brenda, for a couple of weeks now. Please pray that we would get over whatever we have had and have the energy to diligently work at our support discovery and our studies.
Thank you for letting us share our excitement and concerns with you. We are so glad to know that you are praying for us and for God’s work in Croatia. We would love to know your excitements and concerns too so that we can pray for you.
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Romans 8:28 NLT The McCollum Family 7486 157th Street West, Apartment 109, Apple Valley, MN 55124 firstname.lastname@example.org – 952-223-4859
