Merry Christmas… July 2, 2008
Dear Friends and Family: Merry Christmas to each of you. This has been such a fast year. Just the other day I was looking at our Christmas letter from last year and thinking about how much has happened since the last time I sat down to write to you. Do you remember last years letter? Don’t feel bad, I never finished it. That is why you never read it. O.K., let’s get down to business: 1) Michael unemployed – looking for work in Computer Network Engineering 2) Brenda pregnant, due early June, still sick but getting better 3) Ariél 5½ , homeschool kindergarten, beginning to read 4) Connor 4, Blue’s Clues® Birthday Party, homeschool preschool 5) Ian 19 months, talking, climbing 6) Jesus God from Heaven, born as a baby, lived as a man, executed as a criminal, Alive Today! God has been good to us this year. I left my job late last year at Nash Finch to work for my friend Greg Scott. He provided the opportunity to become a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and be exposed to many computer technologies. Unfortunately, business wasn’t good in 1999 for consulting companies and in October, the company that bought Scott Consulting eliminated my position. I haven’t found work yet as nobody seems to want to hire anyone before the “dreaded Y2K” but how else could I have spent so much time at home with my family? How are we doing financially? We are being careful but more importantly, God is good. Through anonymous friends, the church and our family, my re-employment insurance has been nicely supplemented. Thank you to all of you who have helped with gifts, looked for jobs and most importantly prayed. Yes, Brenda is pregnant with number four. I know what you are asking, “Why has it taken you so long to get to number four?” Well, it really isn’t up to us. We really believe in trying to let God guide us in this area. We are excited to have this baby on the way. Brenda’s first appointment won’t be until about week 22 so the first ultrasound won’t be until then. What I’m trying to say is that if you ask us if we are having a girl or a boy, our answer will simply be “yes.” Please say a prayer for Brenda’s health and the health of the baby. The kids are happy and healthy. They are very fun to have around. We are never bored. It is exciting to watch them grow up. They are sensitive, caring, naughty, nice, obedient, disobedient, and completely full of childish love. May this Christmas for you be filled with the love of the Child. On behalf of the McCollum family,
Michael J. McCollum
…and a happy new year.
