History: The Sheepadoodles originated in the US. It was developed by the US army in the 1960s as a military police dog. As mentioned earlier, Sheepadoodle is not a pure breed but a by-product of two beautiful breeds, Old English Sheepdog and Poodle. The poodles were known to have originally bred in Germany as a water-dog for hunting waterfowl. On the other hand, the sheepdog was intended to herd sheep. The Sheepadoodle is registered with the American Canines Hybrid Club (ACHC).



Appearance: The Sheepadoodle comes in three main color pattern- all black, black and white, and red and white. The dog has none or very low shedding. They are known for being laid back, smart, and sweet puppies.


Size: This remains to be one of the most conflicted. There are some who claim the dog to be a medium-sized dog while there are also others who call the large dog. The truth is that they are both. This dog generally reaches about 13 to 28 inches in height and on an average, they weight around 60 to 80 pounds when they are fully grown.

Trainability: Sheepadoodles are very intelligent dogs. With a little amount of training, the Sheepadoodles has no trouble understanding the master’s command. They don’t like being shouted at and is slightly stubborn too. They are very loyal, gentle, playful, and great with children of all ages.

Health: the Sheepadoodles are generally healthy. However, like any other dog, they are not free from all the health complications. They have an estimated life-span of about 12 to 15 years. They just need a regular brushing to maintain a long and clean coat, soft, and wavy. They often remain healthy with regular complete grooming.
