GRAND LAUNCHING OF THE PHILIPPINES DEVELOPMENT OFFICE ON THE 220TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDATION OF THE SISTERS OF THE PRESENTATION OF MARY November 21, 2016, the Feast day of the Presentation of Mary in the Temple, the PM Sisters of the Philippine Province celebrated the 220th anniversary of the foundation of the Congregation and held their grand launching of the Philanthropic Development Office Advocacies at Saint Peter’s College of Toril with the Theme: “PM Sisters @ 220: sustained by God’s Mercy”. The celebration was a whole day affair. It was opened with the Holy Eucharist presided by his Grace Archbishop Romulo Valles, the Archbishop of Davao. In His homily, Bishop Valles emphasized the role of Mary in the life of the Church. He invited the people to get in touch of their own vision and mission as they allowed themselves to be touched by the Blessed Virgin Mary. He challenged each one to cultivate, like Mary, a lifestyle of poverty for God. He ended his homily with a vision to see and a mission to live through a constant effort to see God more clearly, to love God more dearly, and to follow God more closely. The agape meal set the noon break. The invited guests and visitors received the abundance of God with the food served at table. The program for the grand launching of the PDO Advocacies highlighted the afternoon affair. There were 220 invited guests who symbolized the 220 years of existence of the PM Sisters in serving the Church and the World. The 220 guests were acknowledged and received God’s blessings through the prayer of the Sisters. They were invited to become partners in the endeavor of the PM Sisters in spreading God’s love everywhere in the activity called “Advocacy Shopping and Signature challenge.” They were invited to shop for knowledge and information about the different advocacies and to sign on an Advocacy as a mark of their commitment to be the philanthropist partner of their chosen cause. 1
At the end part of the program, the PDO Project of raising funds for education and scholarship was introduced. The project is called “The 220+ a gift for education and scholarship” that aims to: 1) give educational assistance to the 220 pupils/students who are poor and deserving, 2) help the recipients finish their grade 12 level of education 3) give the recipients the value formation that they need to continue to share the blessings they receive to the next generations. The funds for this project will be raised through solicitation. Sister Samuelita Enriquez, the school Director of Saint Peter’s College of Toril presented her surprise gift for the advocacy on Education and scholarship. She was able to raise funds for the 220+ a gift for education and scholarship with the 220 solicitation envelopes she distributed to the school community and to her own religious community. No one left the Saint Peter’s College of Toril Gym without gains. All have received treasures in many forms; the insights from the speeches of the Provincial Superior Sister Edel Gula, the Springrain CEO, Glenda Antonio, and the closing remarks of Sister Elenita Baguio; the joy of being welcomed the friendship, the connection, the knowledge and the information gained from the activity “Advocacy Shopping and Signature Challenge”; the Presence of God evoked through the Doxology of Holy Cross of Calinan; and the miracle of transformation that happens in each one’s mind set, attitude and outlook.
