Facts About Christmas: Some zoos feed donated Christmas trees to their animals! Now that’s some Christmas spirit! We frequently abbreviate Christmas as X-mas because of ancient tradition. X is the Greek letter “chi” which is an abbreviation for the word “Christ” in Greek. Ancient peoples, such as the Druids, considered mistletoe sacred because it remains green and bears fruit during the winter when all other plants appear to die. Druids would cut the plant with golden sickles and never let it touch the ground. They thought it had the power to cure infertility and nervous diseases and to ward off evil.
DCON DCON registration is officially open! The Southwest CKI District Convention will take place in Flagstaff, Arizona from Febuary 24th-26th. The theme this year is Service so Sweet. It’s a great opportunity to meet other CKI members and in general just have fun. If you have any questions, feel free to ask during the meeting or email an officer! Registration is $95 and closes on February 5th. However, reimbursements will be issued depending on how much money is raised in fundraisers. To register go to swcki.org, look under the events tab, and go to DCON! Below are pictures from last DCON.
