Destination Report: Karisma Resorts inRiviera Maya, Mexico It is so hard to come back from paradise! I am back though and excited to share my experiences with you on my July 14 to July 22 business trip to Riviera Maya on the Yucatan Peninsula in Riviera Maya — a safe and beautiful destination for honeymooners, couples and families.

Mexico. First, you should know that this part of Mexico is easily accessible from eastern seaboard airports. I flew from Harrisburg with a connection in Charlotte, but there are reasonably priced direct flights available out of Dulles and the flight time from Dulles is a little over 3 hours! Isn’t that about the same amount of time you would spend driving to your favorite Maryland, New Jersey or Delaware shore point? From the Cancun Airport you will find the region of Riviera Maya starting from about 20 minutes south . One main highway services all the resorts along the Riviera Maya down to Tulum, an area known for its Mayan ruins. The region is therefore very accessible. On my visit I was hosted by Karisma Resorts that operate under the brand names El Do-

rado and Azul — adult only & family products respectively. I am a Gourmet Inclusive Certified Vacation Consultant with Karisma and will periodically visit the resorts to do site inspections and to receive extra training on this product. I do this for the benefit of my clients and to distinguish my agency from other area agencies and from internet providers of travel. Plus, I love going to the resorts so that I can adequately explain what they are like to prospective clients. On the first half of my trip I stayed at El Dorado Seaside, a beautiful, peaceful resort for adults only. On the second half of my trip I was able to experience Azul Sensatori with my husband and three children. It was great experiencing the re-

sort through my kids’ eyes. They really loved the kids club and child friendly features including Fisher Price toys in all the restaurants, spacious rooms that could easily accommodate a family of five like ours, great pools that meandered around the resort, swim up bars where they could order milk shakes, a splash park for smaller children and kid friendly meals at every restaurant. I can tell you that all 5 of the Karisma resorts showed beautifully. The properties were meticulous, the settings on the Caribbean Sea were gorgeous, the food was above and beyond what you would expect at a regular allinclusive resort, the amenities were top of the line….I happily put my stamp of approval on these resorts!

Seize The Day Travel and other Kid Link vendors are holding a Back to School Bash on 3pm to 8pm on 9/4/10 at the Playhouse Cafe. Bring the kids, get your car seats checked, come and listen to Steven Courtney & This Way Up percussionists band.

Where will you go next? Destination Weddings: A Natural Choice, Part 2 In the last newsletter I wrote about the popularity of destination weddings and I highlighted Weddings and Weddingmoons by Martha Stewart, offered exclusively at Sandals. After visiting the Karisma resorts and seeing their wedding locations , I wanted to share what I learned with all of you. I also received additional specialized Destination Wedding training by the director of the Destination Wedding Department for Karisma resorts while in Mexico, therefore I want to highlight the offerings of the Karisma destination wedding team in this issue. The one thing that is noticeably different from the Sandals offerings is that the Karisma Wedding team will tailor the themes to your color and flower preferences etc. So they let you control the theme more than at Sandals. Some of you may like that flexibility. From talking to the team at Karisma, they definitely are dream makers in that they want to customize your experience as much as possible.

An amazing average of 40,000 destination weddings occur each weekend!

Wanted: A Few Good Websites or Storefronts Seize The Day Travel is looking for a few good websites or storefronts to help spread the word about us and we have a fun way to do it. Perhaps you can help. Do you have a business with a storefront where your clients visit you? We have a trip give away box that we would love to place at your business The drawing is for “Win a 4 Night Stay for Free” to El Dorado or Azul Resorts in Riviera Maya. The cool thing

about the box is that if a winner is selected from your box, Karisma gives the store owner a “4 Night Stay for Free” trip also! The drawing is done monthly and is done throughout the United States. Does your business have a website? I have the same Karisma offer but instead of a box in your store, we can place a banner on your website. Your client simply fills in the virtual entry form and they are entered in the drawing. Again, if your

client wins, then you win too. You can see how the banner will look below or by going to our website at www.SeizeTheDayTravel.net/ specials.html. Please contact Heather@SeizeTheDayTravel.net if you would like your clients to have the opportunity to win this trip and I will arrange for a box or web banner for you. Thanks for considering it!

Travel Insurance: To Buy or Not to Buy? That is the Question. Buy, buy ,buy. Is that emphatic enough? Over the years, my answer to this question has varied, but in uncertain economic times and during catastrophic weather events, Travel Insurance can be your best protection of your trip investment. Travel Insurance is important because it not only protects you if your trip needs to cancel because of a medical or weather event or death in the immediate family, but many insurance plans also offer “Cancel for Any Reason” or “Cancel for Job Reasons” provisions and medical benefits. Many of you will retort, that you don’t need trip insurance because you are going on you trip no matter what. I can relate to that feeling. However, in uncer-

tain economic times, it may be unfeasible to go with out protection that allows you some flexibility should your work situation change. As far as medical coverage goes, I think this is one of the most persuasive reasons to buy travel insurance. A lot of clients will check with their health insurance provider and find that it may or may not cover them for traveling internationally. However, many travel insurance medical benefits include a medical expense provision, an emergency medical transportation provision and an accidental death & dismemberment benefit are only available at benefit amounts high enough through travel insurance. It is

important to realize if you are cruising or going to an international destination and need airlifted with medical personnel back to the US, you will be happy you had the emergency medical transportation provision. Seize The Day Travel is a PA licensed provider of Travel Guard Insurance. I love the options it allows the client to select from. It is not one size fits all coverage which I really like. So, if you are considering purchasing travel insurance, my vote is yes and if you are looking for a great option, choose Travel Guard and contact me for more details. I offer it on all the trips I book and have seen it work in all kinds of scenarios.
