Sefton’s Children’s Centres Activities for disabled children and children with additional needs during Summer 2012


All activities are free of charge for families. Many of these activities are funded by Sefton Council via the Aiming High for Disabled Children’s Project . Activities are primarily designed for disabled children of 5 and under and their families, including their siblings. As you will see below, some sessions can cater for children up to the ages of 12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. If you have any queries, please contact the Centre concerned.

Wheelchair accessible transport for the outings to Knowlsey and Blackpool. Mini bus that is not wheel chair accessible for visits to Jake’s Sensory World. Session

The coach will leave Linaker children’s Centre at 10am and return at 4pm. Children must be accompanied by a family member.

Visit to Blackpool Zoo

9.30am – 4.30pm

Booking is required by Wednesday 18th July

The coach will leave Linaker Children’s Centre at 9.30 and return by 16:30. Children must be accompanied by a family member.

Visit to sensory touch

Thursday 2nd August

Sensory Touch has been booked exclusively for Early Support sessions. Please indicate which time slot you would prefer. Children must be accompanied by a family member, although additional staff are available for support.

The whole of Jake’s Sensory World has been booked exclusively for our families. Children must be accompanied by a family member, although additional Parenting staff are available for support.

Valewood Children’s Centre, Valewood Primary School, Sherwood Avenue, Crosby. L23 7YG. Tel: 0151 924 0483 Changing facilities for children up to the weight of 50 pounds Large bathroom space with wet room and shower. Adult sized bed for changing older children. Access to a sensory room, with mobile hoist. Wheel chair access. Whole family welcome, sessions designed for children with additional needs and their siblings up to the ages of 11. We provide respite during school holidays.

1st Outdoor play session with den making activities 8th Cooking session with Gavin from “what’s cooking” 15th As part of our 10am -4pm healthy fun day we have arts and crafts, make your own healthy snack, get a health check and see the animals. We have arranged for children with additional needs to have sole access to the animals between 15:00 and 16:00. You are of course welcome for the whole day. 22nd Possible swimming sessions (to be confirmed).

These activities and sessions have been especially designed for children with additional needs and their families. There are many more inclusive sessions and activities in the Children’s Centre’s you may enjoy. Speak with your local Children’s Centre to get their full timetable, and let them know if you need any additional support.
