A message from the TMA President and Chair of the Membership/Communications Committee

LIVE MUSIC has an impact and presence that helps to make any event into a successful one.

Whatever your BUDGET, professional bandleaders can work with you to customize a group/ensemble for your requirements. Bands may increase or decrease in size to suit the needs of your event. On behalf of the Toronto Musicians’ Association it is our pleasure to introduce the 2010/2011 edition of ‘See The Music’. Toronto is home to some of the finest musicians in North America and our association represents the ‘best of the best’. If you’re looking for world class, experienced, versatile professionals, to add that special touch to your event let this publication be your guide. The Toronto Musicians’ Association presents EVERY STYLE OF MUSIC through our members. These include: latin, jazz, pop/Top 40, blues, dance, rock, swing, classical, chamber music, country, dixieland, international, and many more. Please contact our office for more information. A TMA agreement will be provided by the leader. This standard TMA/American Federation of Musicians contract will protect you and the musicians you hire. The CONTRACT contains details such as the event theme, performance time, date, place, contacts, set-up time, any specific power supply required, etc. The TMA staff is available to answer any of your questions regarding contract procedure. Booking in advance will ensure AVAILABILITY OF THE PERFORMER(S).

Barbara Klunder has always felt it to be an honour to illustrate and design musicevent posters, ads, t-shirts and CD covers for the Jazz, Blues, and Toronto music community, including the legendary BamBoo Club, over the years. She feels if her work has helped the musicians/magicians get a larger audience, we all win. The illustration above is from her new book, ‘Other Goose’, recycled rhymes for our fragile times, written with a bit of a beat that she figures she picked up from hanging around this unhinged tribe. It is published by Groundwood Books/House of Anansi Press and available everywhere. 116
