A good type note from a series that is actually much scarcer than the popular 1776 issues. Bold embossing and strong ink colors, penned cancellation on reverse and small tears as noted by PMG. Maryland

1305. Annapolis, Maryland, $2, 10-4-1774, serial 16003, PMG XF 40.

Popular type with two crude vignettes of Spanish pillar dollars in the center to denote the denomination. Good ink color and defined ink signatures with some stains as noted on the PMG label. PMG #8067277-011. Estimate: $200-$300. FR-MD-67.

plate B, PMG Choice UNC 63. FR-NJ-176. Popular colonial type note dated to less than four months prior to the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Sharp, detailed printing and ink serial number and signatures, some paper toning. PMG #1958053-003. Estimate: $200-$300.

New York 1308. New York City, New York, $2, 13-8-1776, serial 12, very low serial number, PMG VF 25. FR-NY-202. Dated to just

over a month after the Declaration of Independence signing and made payable for “TWO SPANISH MILLED DOLLARS.” A very low serial number (12!) and the reverse with interesting print error “STAT OF NEW-YORK” due to very weak E at end of STATE, an evenly circulated note with single pinhole near BILL. PMG #8067277-012. Estimate: $250-$375.
