WESTERN WAKE INVITATIONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT By Mike Strawbridge, Young Life College Leader This year I had the privilege to play in the WWYL golf tournament with three of my friends from N.C. State. This is my fourth year leading Young Life at State, and I played with three guys whom I have known for more than three years. The guys and I had a blast chasing golf balls around Crooked Creek, making jokes about how bad we are at golf, trying to figure out when to use our “throws” that we purchased as part of the mulligan package, but mostly we just enjoyed a day of being together. Golf is a unique sport in that it allows the competitors hours of fellowship. That might be why I love the Young Life golf tournament so much. The community that loves, supports and cares for Western Wake Young Life, its committee, its leaders and the thousands of students impacted by WWYL comes together and rubs elbows and nine irons. It was wonderful to see old friends and make new ones. It was great to sit with area pastors and businessmen and see the relationships and networking in their lives. I’m thankful that I had the opportunity to be a part of the WWYL golf tournament. I am also thankful for the many friends who came out and supported the ministry that I love. Thank you for partnering with us!

News from Western W ake Young Life !

By Lisa Perkins, WWYL Committee

Family camp is a wonderful experience for our family. We have been going for three years now, and it is one of the highlights of our year. We love having the opportunity to be silly together, worship together and play together. The environment at Windy Gap is filled with God’s love, which is incorporated into every activity that a family experiences! We love that our kids are witnesses to how God’s love prompts one to serve and live out that joy. We are so thankful for the leaders and their servant attitudes. They inspire me as a mom (and my husband too), and they inspire my children to love Jesus and to serve Him by loving others!
