tissot display contest concept

When considering pure shapes, it always arrives to our mind the basic shapes of nature, being these the triangle, the square, and the circle. Reaching simplicity is one of the most complicated tasks in our lifes, and nature brought us this shapes as a proof of wisdom. In my concept, i’ve tried to develop a new way of displaying watches looking for a path of simplicity. It works like a modular display, meaning that every display can be personalized. 3 different cube sizes, 3 different colours and a pattern created by the strength of the basic shapes mixed with the sophistication of a watch.

The main structure is composed by modular shapes that fill the display generating a colour pattern. There are 5 different modules plus the watch holders.

Main points

· Modularity implies: easy replacing, easy assembling, customization in a way of different pattern creation. · Construction details: The display is composed by two main pieces (base & watch display) and the different modules. This means that for production, every piece can be replaced in case of need. · Pattern: There’s not a certain number of any cubes needed. What does this mean? It means that the pattern is random and personal. Every shop can choose how many red, white or black cubes they need to assembly their own display. · Expansion possibility: The modular shape of this display allows Tissot to modify the size of it, making smaller or bigger displays in case of need.

Material

Packaging

· PS vs ABS: Polystyrene is an affordable fully recyclable material. It also can be a clean and glossy material, optimum for the modules. ABS is also a nice choice, because as a material gives strength and stability to the display construction.

· In packaging concerns, this display doesn’t need much effort to transport, pack and assembly. How so? Because as being square shaped it can fit a box using all the free spaces.
