...VANISH ALL EXSISTING FOR MORE PEACEFUL SHELL … …CLEAN AND SIMPLE WERE TWO KEYS …

DEC 2015 -- JUNE 2016 CENTENUAL GARDEN, SHANGHAI INTERIOR / LIGHTING / ARTWORKS

Client asked for an unique and modernized living space in total area of 200 square meter. To sustain overall cozy and hard-to-be-bored visualized living atmosphere for private owner, color selection was kept to neutral tone. Brown and beige and a slight of dark and light gold metallic edging just to provide a slick looking contemporary outfit. Avoiding overwhelming details such as decorative ceiling cornice was strongly driven by core concept, be plane and simple. Straight lines and right proportion being much enough details was to speak about clients’ preferences, age and character.

…FIRST TOUCH TO RETAIL STORE.., INDUSTRIAL LOOK WAS NOT ENOUGH TO EXPLAIN THE PASSION…

JAN 2016 -- APRIL 2016 SHANGHAI VAPE, SHANGHAI INTERIOR / LIGHTING / FACADE

Client formed by four young people with very different characters and background, they asked for a ‘cool’ store to introduce the real meaning behind vaping culture. This project was located in most fashionable area of Shanghai, the store was expected to be intentional but economical on making budget. Applying tilting-inwards glass façade to obtain more pedestrian contacts and visual communication was strongly supported as entrance proposal. The material combination, polished concrete and raw ash wood. Both were durable and easy manipulate, this pair were agreed by everyone suitable for demanded atmosphere. Additionally important thing, easy cleaning and maintenance. We pursuit for a scene, guests to the shop could experiment or trial or enjoy playing Ecigarette products within a tone harmonized by cold and warm rendered elements. Within this rectangular boxed up space, it would stamp a revolutionary conditional image of a ‘vape’ store to addict guests often to come back and behave like a ghetto base.

…HERITAGE BUILDINGS WERE MEANT TO HAVE MINIMAL CHANGES, BUT WE DID A BIG SURGURY FOR ITS REBORN… PAST IS FUTURE, AND VICE VERSA...

NOV 2013 -- AUG 2015 1936 DUTCH EMBASSY, NANJING LANDSCAPE / INTERIOR / LIGHTING A heritage building from 1936 which was used as Dutch Embassy at the time in mainland China. Architecture renovation was completed by Naijing University, renew damaged parts and re- discover significant elements for its most original appearance. Our team worked on design of landscape and interior that we had been challenged on how to reform to establish distinctive image for the entire site, but also complement significances from the Ming time – an era China architectural design got vast impact from the West world. Having kept all existing skin of the building, we pushed to perform structural alternation on internal volume in order to provide more comfortable and interesting spaces for client demand functions, such as lounge room, gallery, cigar room, tea room and more. Neutral color scheme in black, grey, and white tone exaggerates both the era mood and contemporary atmosphere, the composition was thought to become timeless symbol, which precisely speaks for the subtle emotion we urge for, about the past and future.

…FIRST TOUCH TO ARCHITECURAL RESHAPE, IT WAS UNFORGETABLE HOW MUCH OBSESSION IT BRINGS…

MAR 2011 -- MAR 2012 BEVERLY HILLS GARDEN HOUSE, SHANGHAI INTERIOR / LIGHTING / ARTWORKS

The stair case in this house was built as a central vertical volume since previous structural demolition. Being one of the existing largest crucial architectural features, public area floor planning orientated around the vertical volume for a very circulated space. Solid sliding panels were proposed for more flexibility to break up the largest ground floor living room space so that energy could be if considerably saved and controlled within one space if the rest was out of occupation. Extending upwards door lintels and wall opening height made entire volume much elegant,. Using dark timber frame lines as outliners brings doors and windows to front and created depth in contrast to the light walls, visually enlarged the space scale, with gentle warm lighting effect it became more essential. To carry out a art unique set of art pieces on theme of ‘home and love’, each piece was custom made to speak about such theme with expressive color palate and materials.

…26 CONSERVATION UNITS.. …FULL TIME GOVERNMENT INVOLVMENT… ...REVOLUTIONARY OUTCOME AND WINNER OF UNITED NATION ARCHITECTURAL AWARD...

MAY 2012 -- OCT 2013 YIHE MANSION, NANJING LANDSCAPE / ARCHITECTURE / INTERIOR / ARTWORK

‘The Project involved conservation and re-vitalization of a cluster of 26 units of listed buildings of the former National Government of the Republic of China in an old central district of Nanjing. The existing buildings are listed as a cultural relic units under the state protection regulations as they are valuable examples of the early probe of a new national style in the modern history of Chinese architecture, as well as a witness of history and the historic events in China's modern times.’ – KT Cheung Our team was expected to resolve all problems that remained from previous construction, at the same time generate revolutionary overall image for the cluster, not being overwhelming in look, but to hit a high key for the city and set a sample for other similar conservation neighborhood.

…NOT LARGE SIZE NOR FANCY IN LOOK, LOADS OF STORIES ON WORKING OUT ALL DETAILS AND DESIGN COMPOSITIONS…

MARY 2012 -- MAY 2014 CHAPTEL BOUTIQUE HOTEL, HANGZHOU MASTER PLANNING / INTERIOR / LIGHTING / ARTWORKS

A boutique hotel situates on historical site, and also known as one of most meaningful heritage landmarks Hangzhou, China;s most beautiful touring city. The block is described as Shikumeng from the Ming time in modern China history. Having main gate 1 minute walk from the Westlake makes it busy and easy-reaching for all publics. It complies overall 22 double-floor suite vacancies, one center multi function hall for dinning and showcases. The concept overall surrounds bases on merge of west and east, which responds directly to the period when building was created. 1930’s American art-deco elements and old time Shanghai modern elements became intercutting point for design to start with, reunderstanding, filtering and reformation were key methods on generating geometric features for interior. Colors almost became a language to explain the background of project.

…FIRST TOUCH TO ARCHITECURAL RESHAPE, WHILE IT BRINGS UNPREDICTATBALE OBSESSION …

MAR 2011 -- MAR 2012 CUNHU WETLAND VISITOR CENTER, BEIJING LANDSCAPE / ARCHITECTURE / INTERIOR / LIGHTING / ARTWORK

The site location was in National Wetland Park that provided beautiful and special native condition to our project had always been advantage to complete this project ideally. It’s supported by Beijing Haidian province government bureau for overall redraw on architecture and interior. Communication between surrounding landscape and internal space was a key concept throughout the design progress, and it was accepted by the client as a good starting point. We opened up front façade of the building where it used to be covered by dense green growing, and certain percentage of trees were also removed from from land as we proposed that it brings lots of air and sun shine into the building. It almost feels like space began to breath with the surrounding natural system. Interior was kept simple and clean in tone. Natural timber as one dominating material was used for most of the internal recreations, it was significant to also introduce recycled timber boards for environmental friendly concept.

GRADUATION PROJECT

…ALWAYS WITH HUGE AMBITION ON HOTEL DESIGN… ...WESTERN AND EASTERN INTERACTION CULTURE COLLABRATION WAS A KICK START INSPIRATIONAL IDEA ABOUT FUTURE HOTEL..…

JUN 2010 -- MAR 2011 AiWeiWei ART HOTEL, SYDNEY INTERIOR CONCEPT The graduation project was inspired by cultural interference. Being a Chinese myself, my own background between western culture were considered oppotunity for a merge, more accuratley it shoud be described as an exploring journey of athestic harmony. Chinese artist Aiweiwei being the most contriversial character of the time, he lead me rethink of space by reading his artworks, also pushed me forward on methods creating new oriental refered style for both modern hospitality and for his artworks display. The material combination, linear textured and polished concrete, darken ash wood provided raw atmosphere for artworks background. The water utiliezed to be living mirror to correspond with Aiweiwei's artpiece, chair mirage concept which is two chair being insereted to one anonter . The overall effect was to pursuit for a scene, guests arrives to explore how artworks own meaning and what meaning or function it brings to such space in this hotel, some were placed as partitions or screens just as more avanced and cosumized architectural unique elements. Within this irregular shaped historical 1970's foxstudio block envalope, this dynamic arrangment was aim to stamp a revolutionary image of a normal hotel for the city and form a trend from culture or art power.

THE END THANK YOU.
