Successful Year For Swords School St. Finian’s Community College in Swords has much to be proud of as they near the end of another school year. According to Principal, Denise Kelly, “the school had what was one of their best years yet, in terms of academic and artistic achievements. Both the staff members and pupils all worked hard to ensure that a successful and enjoyable year was had,� she said. Funds Raised For Malahide Sports Over â‚Ź10,000 has been raised so far for sport in Malahide through the Malahide Sports Lotto. This web-based fund-raising initiative was established just six weeks ago in a joint venture between five local sports clubs – rugby, cricket, tennis, GAA and sailing. Already, there have been over 20 cash winners and the Jackpot is now building up to â‚Ź2,600, according to Breda Melvin, one of the Sports Lotto co-ordinators. “While hundreds of sports clubs around the country already run their ‘LocalLotto’, this collaboration is unique in Ireland in that this is the first time a group of clubs in a town have come together for this purpose,â€? she said. This collective initiative is managed by Malahide Rugby Club, Malahide Lawn Tennis Club, St. Sylvesters GAA, Malahide Yacht Club and Malahide Cricket Club, all in Malahide.

The school was also awarded a number of prizes as part of Science Week. Students, Aleksandrs Kurjanous and Dylan Mooney represented the school later in the year in the Irish Physical Sciences and Irish Chemical Sciences Olympiad. For good measure, the school’s u14 Hurling team won their way to the semis of the Dublin Championships.


Summer Courses In Self Development Over the summer months, All Hallows College, Drumcondra, offers a number of opportunities for relaxation and contemplation with a range of day-long, weekend and drop-in courses. The Art of Stillness, a personal enrichment course in contemplative living, will run a summer programme in July - running for a full week (18th - 22nd), the course is open to

everyone - full week, one-day or a selection of days that suit. A beginner’s introductory course in Digital Photography will also be held over the weekend of 23-24 July. Inner Wellbeing is a retreat series designed to help us find the stillness within. Weekend and day-long retreats will be held in August (19th -

21st) and September (22nd). Coming in September is a 10-week course in Exploring the Enneagram, which is a model of human personality which serves as an effective method for self-understanding and self-development.
