SEANC in the News SEANC member Lynn McGarrah from District 38 was quoted in a WRAL story about Gov. Perdue’s budget reorganization suggestions, including a proposal to privatize state information technology services. McGarrah, who has worked as a state IT specialist for 20 years, said she questions the accountability of the private sector, adding "We don’t serve a stockholder. We serve the citizens of North Carolina."

Perdue Shares Budget Ideas On Thursday, Gov. Perdue released additional ideas for addressing the state budget deficit. She said she is considering privatizing the state Alcoholic Beverage Control system and added that she wouldn't dismiss legalizing and regulating video poker. The budget shortfall is projected to be $3.7 billion for the upcoming fiscal year. Perdue will submit a two-year budget proposal next year.
