Top Stories â€” 2011 Awards and Recognition: BNY Mellon recognized for superior human resource services in central New York June 16, 2011 BNY Mellon has received the 2011 Ursula Flagg Award for Human Resource Excellence for an Organization in the category of Human Resource Management (Training and Development). The award, which is presented by the Mohawk Valley Society for Human Resource Management and the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce, recognizes the achievements of human resource professionals and their businesses throughout central New York's Mohawk Valley. It is named in honor of Ursula Flagg, who held the Human Resources Officer position at the Savings Bank of Utica for 35 years. "We are pleased to receive an award that honors our constant efforts in developing and implementing excellent human resource services," said Frank Behlmer, EVP and COO of Global Operations. "The dedication and work ethic shown by our Human Resources department is unsurpassed. Their pursuit of excellence in the workplace deserves recognition." The award continues BNY Mellon's recognition as a highly regarded community partner in the Mohawk Valley. In 2009, Steven Giuffrida, a Human Resources Business Partner, won the Ursula Flagg Award for Human Resource Excellence for an Individual. Last year, BNY Mellon was named Business of the Year by the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce for extraordinary business performance, presence in the community and the impact of its local New York employment. This year's award will be presented to BNY Mellon on June 21 at the Radisson Hotel Utica Center. Established in 1988 with a staff of approximately 200 employees, BNY Mellon's presence in the Mohawk Valley has steadily increased in support of the company's global investment management and investment services businesses. Today, the company's Oriskany/Utica Operations Center has grown to 850 employees and specializes in back-office operations support for commercial loans, trade services and funds transfer.
