District 2 MEBA-AMO salutes its members aboard the 225,000-d.w.t. U.S.-flag tanker Williamsburgh, a Brooklyn-built ship operated by Bay Tankers, for their part in the October 4 sealift to safety of almost 500 persons evacuated from the burning Dutch-flag passenger ship Prinsendam in the Gulf of Alaska. Chief Mate Harry Rogers, First Assistant Jerry Chaney, Second Mate Kerry Horton, Second Assistant Paul Walker, Third Mate Tom McCaffery, Third Assistant Doug Sherman, Radio Officer Jim Pfister, and Third Assistant Pat Salvatore performed in the U.S. seafaring tradition, honoring their Union, their industry, and their ship.
