Dear Windjammer Friends, The sophisticated owner of the SEA CLOUD already practiced this almost one hundred years ago: Whenever she found it too cool or too boring ashore, Marjorie Merriweather Post set sail on her beloved four-master. Surrounded by family and good friends, the multimillionaire enjoyed carefree sunny days on the world‘s most exotic coasts. On our voyages to the Caribbean and Central America, it is easy to evoke that carefree spirit again today. When cruising aboard our SEA CLOUDs in the dream territory between the Lesser Antilles and Costa Rica, you combine authentic sailing adventure, lively Caribbean culture and the flair of a spacious, hospitable private yacht. And naturally, most of our exclusive services – from 5-course dinners to snorkeling gear – are already included. May we introduce to you our favorite spots for the cold winter months? We are looking forward to seeing you on board! Your SEA CLOUD CRUISES team

Simply more: the many inclusive services • Beautifully appointed cabin in selected category • Gratuities • Welcoming bottle of champagne in your cabin • All meals from early-bird breakfast to the exquisite 4-course dinner menu with choice of main course • 5-course gala dinner during the cruise • Welcome and farewell cocktail with champagne • All soft drinks and juices throughout the cruise • Selected wines and beers thoughtfully chosen to complement lunch and dinner • All alcohol-free coffee and tea specialties • Bottled water on the excursions • Fresh fruit basket in your cabin, replenished daily • English-speaking tour guide • Travel documents • All port fees • Free laundry service for cat. Greater & Lesser Antilles, Grenadines, U.S. & British Virgin Islands The Lesser Antilles stretch through the turquoise Caribbean Sea like a dazzling string of pearls. The area between Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands in the north and the Grenadines in the south offers perfect sailing conditions.

Dive in and be active Whether you want to start your swim directly from the ship or explore the colorful world on the reef – water sports are even more fun at bathtub temperatures. Equipment is available for everyone: Snorkels, fins and stand-up paddles are waiting for you. If you are in the mood for even greater action, let yourself be pulled through the waters on a towable tube.

8

Jaunt to the beach When our yachts drop anchor in front of an impressive backdrop, the next dream beach is often just a zodiac ride away. Around the Lesser Antilles, the crystal-clear water beckons you to swim. The Caribbean is the perfect destination to drift through the day without a single thing to worry about.

9

The green side of the Antilles The nature here is as colorful and spirited as the local people and the Creole culture. Volcanic lakes, waterfalls and gardens with tropical plants: On the more southern islands of the Antilles and the Grenadines, the Caribbean shows a completely different aspect. You can discover the diversity of the individual islands on our shore excursions into the hinterland.

ÎLES DES SAINTES Best location in the sheltered bay with a view of the Fort Napoléon.

10

Every island a new treasure chest While on St Lucia, the green volcanic plugs of the two Pitons almost regally greet the approaching SEA CLOUDs from afar, the natural beauty of Dominica holds back a little, yet fascinates with its lush national parks – one of them a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site. And Grenada carries its name “Spice Island” for a good reason: Its air is heavy with the aromas of cloves, ginger and nutmeg.

11

Cuba, an island with vibrant temperament Pure joie de vivre A journey to the Caribbean holds many emotional moments. Most moving is probably feeling the contagious joie de vivre of its people. Discover with us the Creole culture, the cradle of Son and Cuba as close as never before.

Whether in the hustle and bustle of Havana or in the colonial towns along the coast, Cuban life has a rhythm quite of its own. Beyond all the clichés of rum, revolution and cigars, the Caribbean island has retained its endearing charm and for many is still both a myth and a place of longing. It is virtually impossible not to succumb to Cuba’s fascination.

Jamaica – a natural beauty Jamaica seems to have invented deceleration: Between natural beaches, the turquoise sea and coconut palms, everything on the sunny Rastafarian island breathes relaxation. The reggae music that Bob Marley introduced to the world sets the pace. The most scenic corner is the area around the small town of Port Antonio with its caves, rivers and waterfalls. It is not for nothing that Ian Fleming chose the island again and again as location for his James Bond movies.

12

CUBA Imposing and colonial: the National Capitol Building of Havana.

Cuba and Jamaica Their hospitality, eventful history and lively music tradition make Cuba and Jamaica two dream destinations in the Caribbean. As different as the two islands are – here, culture, beach and nature go perfectly hand in hand.

13

COSTA RICA Impressive nature in the national parks. About a quarter of the state territory consists of protected jungle.

14

Central America, Costa Rica, Panama and the ABC Islands The contrasts could not be greater: In Central America, you will collect a colorful kaleidoscope of impressions in just a few days. It seems as if many treasures remained skillfully hidden from man over the years: Biodiversity in the Tortuguero National Park or the world’s second-largest coral reef in Belize.

The colorful flair of the ABC Islands Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao flirt coquettishly with their colonial heritage. Besides the narrow houses with their Dutch gables, colorful divers’ paradises are also to be enjoyed here.

Florida and the Bahamas Between the cool lifestyle of Florida and the crystal-clear waters of the Bahamas, our tall ship sails a brand-new route. Where the big cruise ships pass by, we drop anchor and go on exclusive excursions – discovering hidden places such as the paradise islands of the Exumas.

BAHAMAS Situated just 80 miles off the coast of Florida, the Bahamas archipelago consists of 700 islands. Where the white powdered sugar beaches slope gently down to the sea, swimming and snorkeling fans really get their money’s worth.

Not just a classic cruise Experience the difference Bigger, faster, further – we like to leave that to others. The SEA CLOUDs follow a course of their own. Each of our cruises provides a unique holiday experience: For people like yourself, who value individuality and love the personal touch. Come on board and experience the bliss of slowing down in what is probably the most beautiful sailing area in the world.

18

19

Gentle tourism: discovering the Caribbean with a clear conscience Traveling in a small circle of max. 136 guests creates space for great things. The SEA CLOUDs are always welcome, because we visit the people of the Caribbean instead of overwhelming them. Meeting each other on an equal footing, experiencing the culture, appreciating regional customs, and creating value for the region – today more essential than ever. This is our way of familiarizing you with the Caribbean and showing you what makes it so special – in the truest sense of the word. For more than 40 years, we have thus been following a good course to the best destination for you: pure relaxation.

20

Unique sailing adventures In keeping with the old tradition, on our windjammers the sails are still set by hand. When the commands resound over the deck and the sailors handle the heavy cloth high up in the shrouds, you can sit back and relax in a deck chair and enjoy the genuine private yacht flair. Our sailing ships are havens of tranquility in today’s hustle and bustle – here you will truly be able to unwind.

21

Small ships, bigger opportunities With its steady trade winds and extremely pleasant temperatures, the Caribbean is an absolute dream destination for sailing yachts. The three SEA CLOUDs also sail where otherwise only private yachts can go. Among small islands and sheltered bays, flexible sailing vessels like ours have an advantage, because they can always get that little bit closer. As an observer of the famous Bucket Regatta off St Barths, during a swim stop in the sea or a Zodiac tour around the ship – boredom is something quite unknown on our windjammers.

Sea Cloud A self-assured grande dame, a stylish yet informal sailing icon and a generous host – the SEA CLOUD is a living legend. Built as a private luxury yacht, this ship combines extravagant charm with an authentic tall ship experience.

24

Stylish, timeless, unique On the SEA CLOUD, each and every corner exudes an attitude to life of times long gone by. Where once the Post-Huttons enjoyed their glamorous family life, the atmosphere today is relaxed and personal. At most 64 guests will soon feel like a family on board: They dine on long tables in the oak-panelled dining room, get talking at the lido bar, or relax in the comfy “blue lagoon”.

Îles des Saintes Dominica Caribbean Sea

Special Offer Goodbye winter – relaxed Holiday season on the sunny side of the Lesser Antilles: St Maarten – St Maarten French flair on the Îles des Saintes

Roughly 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) off Guadeloupe, the Îles des Saintes rise green from the sea. Columbus, who set foot on them on All Saints’ Day in 1493, gave the “holy islands” their name. Terre-de-Haut is the most charming of the eight isles: Beneath the historical Fort Napoléon, you can take a relaxed stroll through the little town and enjoy the French flair of its bars, cafés and boutiques. Dominica, the island of lush nature

With a gentle smile, the Sisserou Parrot on Dominica’s flag invites visitors to explore the island. It is well worth it: Like a green carpet, lush rainforests cover the second highest Antilles island and plunge picturesquely over red rocks into the sea in the north. Not far from the fishing village of Calibishie, you can literally let Dominica’s beauty melt in your mouth – during a visit to a chocolate factory. One island, two cultures: St Maarten

Cute gabled houses or charm à la Saint Tropez? Why not enjoy both! On Sint Maarten/Saint-Martin, the DutchFrench border runs right across the hilly green island, dividing it culturally into two halves. Where Marigot and Terres-Basses cultivate elegant savoir-vivre, Dutch serenity is the order of the day in the lively, colorful capital of Philipsburg.

SEA CLOUD – CRUISES

Virgin Gorda

Following in the footsteps of Caribbean pirates to hidden coves, small harbor towns and magnificent nature above and below the sea. British Virgin Islands: Treasure islands in a sailor’s paradise

Sailing between the more than 60 white-sanded British Virgin Islands means following the routes of famous adventurers. Did pirates once bathe on the paradise beaches of Virgin Gorda and Norman Island, the “real” treasure island? In any case, Jost van Dyke, today known for its laid-back pubs with live music, was named after a privateer – just like the Sir Francis Drake Channel. French style on the ÎIes des Saintes

This small archipelago, which earned its place in history as the Gibraltar of the Caribbean, has been a great source of contention over the years. It finally became French territory in 1816. Nowadays, the only remnant of these troubled times is an old fort. Life here is peaceful and spiced with a touch of savoir-vivre. Take a stroll through the small town on the island of Terre-de-Haut with its shops and cafés. St Lucia: Tropical splendor beneath the twin volcanoes

For many miles, only blue water can be seen, when suddenly the green twin volcanoes rise out of the sea – the famous Pitons of St Lucia. The perfect anchorage is hidden at their feet: Soufrière with its Caribbean vibes, charming bays for snorkeling and swimming, and the lushly blooming botanical garden all are in close proximity. More than just spices: Grenada

A total of three mighty forts crowns the hills around St George’s, all watching over the picturesque colonial town. With its cannons pointing inland, Fort Frederick, the highest of the three, is considered Grenada’s most spectacular vantage point, together with the rainforest mountain of Morne Gazo. From here you have a panoramic view over the green spice island to the fine sandy Grand Anse Beach. 30

Snorkelers’ paradise in the Tobago Cays

For many, life under water is a fascinating world – one that becomes even more magical the closer you get. The Tobago Cays’ Horseshoe Reef is such a place. This horseshoe-shaped coral reef encloses four small islands that glow in rich shades of green. The sea, in contrast, embraces turquoise, emerald and every shade of blue. Hidden Caribbean paradise: Bequia

It might be better not to be too enthusiastic about Bequia, for it to remain such a charming insider’s tip. Unimpressed by trends and hustle and bustle, the Grenadine island has retained its natural Caribbean flair. Here, the mind immediately switches to barefoot mode: With cold beer and reggae, locals and sailors sit together in small beach bars and live easily into the day. The jetset island of St Barths

Although many like to call it “St Barths” for short, the island’s official name is St Barthélemy. Having seen numerous owners, the isle was finally bought by France in 1877 and is now firmly in the hands of the jetset. When banker David Rockefeller first bought property here in 1957, the island’s future was sealed. Elegant Gustavia entices with classy goods and glamour hidden away behind restored facades, and the harbor hosts luxury yachts of famous owners. A lecturer accompanies the trip

Knowledge, entertainment and facts – our expert is on hand to give talks on a wide variety of specialist subjects. He/she will also be on board to answer any questions that you may have.

St Lucia

Two days in St Barths for the Bucket Regatta

Prime seat for the SEA CLOUD at top-class sailing event – spectacular super yachts in the St Barths Bucket Regatta: St Maarten – St Maarten Regatta on the jetset island of St Barths

The fact that St Barths can only be reached by small aircraft often attracts international celebrities who come to enjoy relaxing days on the tranquil beach or head to the capital of Gustavia. A highlight for sports fans is the Bucket Regatta, a remarkable sailing event which is held in March every year and sees 30 stylish superyachts compete against one another. “The Baths” – imposing granite formations

It is sometimes easy to think that this is one of nature’s fairy tales: Once upon a time, there was a giant who played with large stone marbles. His favorite playground was in Virgin Gorda, a place now called “The Baths” – a gigantic rock labyrinth made out of circular-shaped granite boulders. Stunning islands: St Lucia and Dominica

Although St Lucia is not considered a saint by everyone, the island is certainly the true queen of this idyllic realm. Even from a distance, its twin volcanic peaks, the Pitons, proffer a regal greeting to the approaching SEA CLOUD. And once we have docked, the island welcomes us with its lush tropical scenery. Dominica, unofficially dubbed “Nature Island”, is proud of its unspoilt scenery. One of its national parks is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Two tall ships heading along old pirate routes to island paradises of the British Virgin Islands and Lesser Antilles: St Maarten – St Maarten Windjammer rendezvous off the Antilles

Few and far between are the occasions, on which one can experience two fascinating windjammers together and directly compare their maneuvers. Between St Maarten and Barbados, the SEA CLOUD and SEA CLOUD II have arranged to meet once more before returning to Europe and follow the same course for several days. When both sailing yachts glide along side by side under full sails, they offer a truly breathtaking spectacle. The British Virgin Islands – a beautiful sailing destination

The British Virgin Islands, with their white-sand beaches, coral reefs and friendly beach bars, are made up of 60 islands and reefs. When cruising along the Sir Francis Drake Channel, the SEA CLOUD calls at two of its stunning natural beauty spots. The tiny islands dotted in the water and warm, gentle breezes make this water-way – named after the famous seafarer – a veritable paradise for sailors.

SAILING

Closing your eyes in the knowledge that several days of blue ocean between the deck under your feet and the nearest port lie ahead… an idea that fascinates most of us. But unlike the great explorers who set out for new worlds in uncertainty, today we know about the ideal sailing conditions under the trade winds that reliably take you to the Caribbean on the Columbus route. Thus the motto is: Farewell to everyday worries and full speed ahead!

Destination tall ship – well-being program on board

SAILING

On board the SEA CLOUD II, our attentive crew welcomes you with only one goal in mind: To pamper you for 15 days. Sports, massage and cosmetics, lectures, classes in knot tying and astronomy, insights into traditional sailing, and culinary theme dinners provide plenty of diversity. Take advantage of this perfect time out and choose your personal well-being program. Best sailing conditions for beginners and enthusiasts alike

SAILING

SAILING

We adjust our course towards the Caribbean summer completely to the trade wind. Constant winds ensure that we can often even sail at night. A real spectacle is without any doubt the first setting of the sails on deck: The sailors climb into the shrouds, untie the heavy cloths and tighten the ropes of the 23 sails on board. Until they all proudly billow in the wind, it takes about one hour of traditional manual labor. This is just as exciting to watch for sailing novices as for old sea dogs.

Cuba up close between rum, rhythm and colorful colonial facades – experience the rousing temperament of the Caribbean island. The magical Maravillas caves

The Spanish name for this natural structure – Cuevas de Maravillas – means “Cave of Wonders”, and for good reason: Visitors to this incredible underground world cannot help but be amazed. With stunning lighting and echoes of cathedral architecture, the ceilings are lined with huge stalactites, while stalagmites protrude from the ground like Gothic pinnacles, and pre-Columbian Taino Indian ritual murals adorn the walls. Several relaxing days at sea

Besides crossing worlds and discovering new lands, we let relaxation take a front seat on our yacht for four whole days. Plenty of time to enjoy life under the white sails and be spoilt in every way. Port Antonio – natural beauty in Jamaica

Known for its reggae, Rastafarians and rum, Jamaica has many magical and serene natural settings to offer alongside its rousing rhythms. Port Antonio in the northeast is the spot on the island with the most beautiful scenery. With its perfect beaches, lush tropical vegetation and countless caves, rivers and waterfalls, the area surrounding this small colonial town has been a celebrity hotspot since the nineteen-forties, attracting famous visitors like Errol Flynn and providing the exotic backdrop for a number of movies. Santiago de Cuba, the Cradle of the Son

Thanks to copper, coffee and sugar cane, for a long time Santiago de Cuba was a prosperous trading city that protected itself from pirates with its “El Morro” fortress. The Casa Diego de Velazquez shows how comfortably its upper class lived at that time. Today, Santiago’s true wealth lies in its musical culture: Salsa and Son, as

played by Compay Segundo of the Buena Vista Social Club, are the lifeblood of the Santiagueros. The resting place of the musical legend can be found in the Santa Ifigenia Cemetery – a sea of white marble. Trinidad’s old town

Trinidad de Cuba is a small, friendly place with a long history as a center for sugar cane farming. Its charming coastal setting, lovingly restored facades and gentle pace of life can be experienced in any of the town’s beautiful squares and in the narrow, historic alleyways. This small town has a well-deserved place on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List. Havana – exuding history and energy

The capital of Cuba offers a bright and colorful cocktail of colonial history, revolutionary heritage and a timeless joie de vivre. You can really feel the authenticity of this city’s charm in Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a district defined by imposing fortresses and exuberant shopping streets, baroque churches and monasteries, palaces and wide squares, not to mention the American vintage cars that cruise through the streets. An evening walk along the Malecón seafront promenade is a particular highlight for anyone who wants to experience the real Havana: This is where the locals go when the sun sets – to play chess, make music, go fishing, or simply enjoy a glass or two of rum as they look out at the glistening bay. A lecturer accompanies the trip

Knowledge, entertainment and facts – our expert is on hand to give talks on a wide variety of specialist subjects. He/she will also be on board to answer any questions that you may have.

St Lucia

Two days in St Barths or the Bucket Regatta

Sailing Together

It's the time of the year again to enjoy the best views of the super yachts at the Bucket Regatta off St Barths: St Maarten – St Maarten Stunning islands: St Lucia and Dominica

Although St Lucia is not considered a saint by everyone, the island is certainly the true queen of this idyllic realm. Even from a distance, its twin volcanic peaks, the Pitons, proffer a regal greeting to the approaching SEA CLOUD II. And once we have docked, the island welcomes us with its lush tropical scenery. Dominica, unofficially dubbed “Nature Island”, is proud of its unspoilt scenery. One of its national parks is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Regatta on the jetset island of St Barths

Sailing side by side through dream destination between green treasure islands and colorful underwater worlds: St Maarten – Barbados Windjammer rendezvous off the Antilles

The British Virgin Islands – a sailor’s paradise

With more than 60 islands and reefs (of which just 16 are inhabited), the British Virgin Islands are a real dream destination. Fans of sailing from all around the world are drawn to their idyllic and tropically warm waters, and the quaint beach bars bring together everyone from luxury yacht owners to solo sailors. It is so easy to get used to the carefree lifestyle, and with your feet in the sand as you gaze out over green hills and the tranquil sea, you will soon forget about the stresses of everyday life back home. French flair on the Îles des Saintes

This small archipelago, which earned its place in history as the Gibraltar of the Caribbean, has been a great source of contention over the years. It finally became French territory in 1816. Nowadays, the only remnant of these troubled times is an old fort. Life here is peaceful, as relaxed as the rest of the Caribbean, and spiced with a touch of savoirvivre. SAILING

SAILING

When the trade winds billow the 4,100 m2 (44,100 sq ft) sailcloth of the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT, not only the hearts of sailing enthusiasts beat faster. Driven by the constant forces of the wind, the traditional tall ship follows the course of ancient routes of discovery. Where modern comfort turns the passage into a wellness trip, manual work and tradition are still very important when setting the sails: Follow the well-rehearsed procedures of the sailors from up close and learn everything worth knowing about the freedom of crossing the Atlantic. To the Caribbean in the tracks of Columbus

SAILING

It is almost impossible to sail across the Atlantic on the Columbus route without constantly being drawn into his world of thought. Unlike the famous explorer, however, we know what lies beyond the seemingly endless horizon at the end of the blue ocean: The island paradises of the Caribbean are waiting to greet you with summer temperatures after fantastic days of sailing. And so during the next 16 days: sit back and enjoy, because the journey is the destination. Destination: Relaxation

SAILING

SAILING

Great adventures do not always have to involve great exertion: the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT offers an ideal mix combining the romantic atmosphere of a windjammer with the superior comfort of a cruise ship. Enjoy magnificent sunsets from your private balcony or while working out with modern cardio equipment in the fitness area. Feel the salty Atlantic breeze blow away your last everyday thoughts in the deck chair during the day. In the evening, enjoy the steam bath and Finnish sauna in the fine spa area, the sounds of the onboard Steinway grand piano in the lounge, and carefully selected culinary delights. 58

You spend some time on one of the glorious beaches, then stroll along the luxurious promenade, and bring the day to a relaxed close enjoying a sundowner while gazing at the impressive private yachts in Gustavia’s harbor. The natural beauty of Bonaire

Bonaire is a true paradise for nature lovers. While the breathtaking view on land features craggy coastlines, extraordinary cactus deserts, winding mangrove forests, shocking pink flamingoes and gorgeous beaches, underwater quite another magical world unfolds.

Caribbean summer wind, pastel-colored Dutch island flair, and relaxed joie de vivre: St. Maarten – Curaçao The magnificent Pitons of St Lucia

Gros and Petit Piton, the two famous volcanic plugs that tower over St Lucia, could have come straight out of a tropical storybook. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offer a spectacular panorama as the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT sails closely alongside their slopes.

Grenada – the island of spice

Although Grenada has been blessed with around 45 picture-perfect beaches, the country’s real treasure remains its lush, green island interior. Deep volcanic lakes, dense rainforests, waterfalls and small river courses form the primordial backdrop for the island’s sugar cane fields and spice plantations. Not surprising that the scent of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg hangs in the air.

Special Offer Simply letting go and taking it easy – sail with the tall ship under the trade winds from the ABC Islands to Panama: Curaçao – Panama City (Colón) The colorful diversity of the ABC islands

As practical as it is to subsume them as the ABC islands – the three Antilles beauties cannot be pigeonholed. On this trip, you will get to know two of the islands: While aloe plants and giant cacti dot the barren hills in Aruba's Arikok National Park, Curaçao contrasts with candy-colored colonial architecture. Cartagena’s colonial center

When in the old days, the Spanish fleet entered the port twice a year to sell weapons and horses and load gold, silver and gems, all of Cartagena was out and about. Founded in 1533, the historic town exudes the flair of colonial times until today. With its colorful houses, Andalusian palaces and numerous churches, the historical center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The green channels of Tortuguero National Park

The park measures 20,000 hectares and is located directly on the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Traveling through the park by boat, one immediately notices its extensive system of canals and lagoons. This forms the optimal habitat for countless animal species, among them parrots, toucans, sloths, caimans, monkeys, and also turtles.

SEA CLOUD SPIRIT – CRUISES

Caribbean Sea

Colonial heritage in Nicaragua, fascinating flora and fauna in Costa Rica and the Panama Canal experience. Fascinating Panama Canal

Léon – liberal and spiritual centre

This masterpiece of engineering art has been connecting the Pacific with the Atlantic for more than 100 years. In 2016, its extension was opened: Within nine years, 40,000 workers had used 192,000 tons of steel in order to enable the passage of giant freighters carrying up to 14,000 containers. Passing through the mighty locks during the day is a rather special experience.

In a competition to find the most exciting city in all of Nicaragua, Léon would come out on top. The city breathes history. The revolution seems omnipresent in the hearts of its inhabitants and on the walls of their homes. From here come heroes, but also the writers and thinkers of the country. Architecturally, Léon also has much to offer: Surrounded by charming cafés and colonial houses, the “Basilica Catedral de La Asuncion” forms the center of the city. It is the largest cathedral of Central America and, in 2011, was included by UNESCO in the World Heritage List.

Megacity in the jungle: Panama City

As an international trade center, gate to the Panama Canal and starting point for excursions to spectacular national parks, Panama City has evolved into a lively trend metropolis. Away from the sparkling skyline, time still moves at a different pace in the old quarter of the Casco Viejo: Strolling along grand old boulevards lined with bougainvillea is like walking right back into colonial times. Costa Rica’s national parks – a green paradise

As more than a quarter of Costa Rica’s land is protected in the form of nature reserves, it provides a safe home for a truly unbelievable variety of flora and fauna. There seems to be no end to the natural highlights that await you in this peaceful little country, which has had no armed forces since 1948. The numerous national parks boast majestic volcanic craters and mysterious cloud forests alongside picturesque beaches and evergreen rainforests.

64

Granada – a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Situated picturesquely at the foot of a volcano and on the shore of a lake, the Nicaraguan town of Granada never ceases to conjure up stunning views of the natural and the man-made. Founded by the Spanish in 1524, it was one of the most influential towns in Central America for around 200 years. It is still considered an insider tip among the region’s colonial pearls. The significance of its historical legacy has earned it a very special seal of approval: a place on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List. A lecturer accompanies the trip

You are bound to have some questions about all the fascinating flora and fauna found in the national parks we visit on our trip. For that reason, a scientist, who knows all there is to know about the region’s varying ecosystems, will be on board to provide you with the answers. He/she will be joining us for the entire journey, giving talks and accompanying us on excursions.

Corinto

An area that has it all: fascinating flora and fauna, national parks and impressive cities. Costa Rica’s Pacific coast: perfect sailing waters

The sea surrounding Costa Rica is the perfect place for sailing – and the SEA CLOUD SPIRIT is the perfect yacht to sail in. Our ship will cruise between the far-flung national parks, ensuring that you arrive completely refreshed and ready to begin each new adventure on land. Small countries with a lot of natural diversity: Costa Rica and Panama

As small as Panama and Costa Rica appear on the map, they are home to more species of plants and animals than can be found in all of Northern America and Europe combined. Both countries have placed more than a quarter of their total area under protection and offer the impressive number of more than 200 national parks, forest reserves and game sanctuaries. During this trip, a multitude of different landscapes presents itself – from rain forests and tropical flower paradises to mystical mangrove woods and beautiful beaches. Fascinating Panama Canal

San Blas: Guna culture under palm trees

Time seems to stand still in the San Blas Archipelago. Here, the Guna people still live as their ancestors did: Hammocks sway in bamboo huts; and in front of them women sew molas, brightly colored works of fabric art. The fascinating culture of the islands can be discovered at leisure: Because the Guna want to preserve their customs, they do not allow mass tourism in their paradise. Megacity in the jungle: Panama City

SEA CLOUD SPIRIT – CRUISES

Granada Lake Nicaragua

The magic of Central America: legendary Mayan sites, breathtaking underwater world, natural wonders and Miami’s multicultural smile. Megacity in the jungle: Panama City

Famous Mayan sites in Belize and Mexico

As an international trade center, gate to the Panama Canal and starting point for excursions to spectacular national parks, Panama City has evolved into a lively trend metropolis. Away from the sparkling skyline, time still moves at a different pace in the old quarter of the Casco Viejo: Strolling along grand old boulevards lined with bougainvillea is like walking right back into colonial times.

The ancient Mayan civilization in Central America, which began about 5,000 years ago and reached its final phase at the time of the Spanish conquest, is still a mystery today. Their ceremonies appear bloodthirsty, their step pyramids are imposing and their stone reliefs exceedingly artistic. Five mysterious Mayan strongholds can be visited on this trip: Altun Ha and Lamanai are located in Belize. On the Yucatán Peninsula, Uxmal impresses with its enormous pyramids. Tulum is the only Mayan site directly on the sea, and Chichén Itzá is one of the most impressive Mayan sites. In 2007, the archaeological site was included in the list of the “Seven Wonders of the Modern World”.

The world’s second largest coral reef

The Belize Barrier Reef is a 256-kilometer-long (159 miles) reef system which contains countless small coral islands. The Lighthouse Reef Atoll features a particularly special natural wonder: the Great Blue Hole. This circular submarine sinkhole, with a diameter of over 300 meters (0.19 miles), was formed during the last ice age and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Donning your snorkel and getting an underwater view is obviously another great way to discover the impressive beauty of the reef. A lecturer accompanies the trip

Knowledge, entertainment and facts – our expert is on hand to give talks on a wide variety of specialist subjects. He/she will also be on board to answer any questions that you may have.

“White Night” on the Exumas included Insider tip for sailing aficionados – on a new route to the most exclusive islands of the Bahamas and their lush underwater world: Miami – Miami Stranded in paradise: Bahamas exclusive

Coral reefs teeming with life and crystal-clear, shallow waters – what turns the Bahamas’ into such a beautiful paradise is also their most effective protection against too much tourist hustle and bustle: The waters around the Exumas are simply not deep enough for large cruise ships. On this new, exclusive route, you can enjoy the perfect combination of a casual beach and snorkeling vacation and a real sailing experience. Insider tip Exumas

No nosy neighbors, no paparazzi, but plenty of powdered sugar beaches – it’s hardly surprising that many celebrities have chosen the Exumas as their ultra-luxurious retreat. Big Major Cay promises a truly memorable encounter. Here, the famous swimming pigs paddle in the turquoise waters. The colorful coral gardens of the Bahamas

Seen from above, the Bahamas look like a watercolor painted with bold brushstrokes of white, blue and green. But just a few centimeters below the water’s surface, a world of even more dazzling colors opens up. Colorful surgeonfish, elegant rays gliding through the water with gentle wing beats, delicate sea anemones and corals in the most bizarre shapes – in the silence of the magical underwater gardens, you can just drift for hours. Hemingway’s fun-loving Key West

Key West is a world quite of its own: both Caribbean and American, lively and relaxed, historic and a little crazy. A thick buoy marks the southernmost point of the US mainland – from here, it is only 90 miles to Cuba. The historic Old Town of Key West is small but well worth a visit. Wooden houses gleam in pastel shades, an old lighthouse proudly soars into the sky, and Hemingway’s house is hidden behind green palm leaves – a museum that is home to some 50 cats.
