Welcome

Take your first steps into circus as Drillaz Summer School returns this Jul & Aug (P14)

Welcome to our first full summer programme at the The Drill House. Following the completion of our first phase of major works in 2016, we’re steadily building a programme of classes, workshops and events to keep you busy over the summer months. We’ve a range of exciting circus classes and workshops including masterclasses from a visting collective of Mexican performers, Circa en Brave (P15). Pizza & Tipples provides a Friday night out for all the family with fresh food, drink and activities for young and old. Up Our Street is a new initiative which encourages everyone in the York Road area to get creative in their own front yard. We welcome some exciting events from the local community. The new Bazaart Festival P6) blends urban music and circus and we host the Portuguese Popular Marches Festival on Sunday 18 June (P09). In July, Life’s a Beach (P10) features a day and night of indoor and outdoor entertainment. We’re particularly excited that, as part of this, we have a visit from one of the world’s most exciting young circus troupes, Circolombia. All of this builds up over the summer to the BIG one... the 10th Out There Festival from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 September (P11). Take a trip to The Drill House and get involved! SEACHANGE NEWS & OPPORTUNITIES

MADE IN GREAT YARMOUTH Two new shows from Great Yarmouth based artists have been commissioned for a national tour as a result of SeaChange’s involvement in the Without Walls Consortium. Artist and film-maker, Matthew Harrison and our resident company, Dizzy O’Dare, are working on new shows at Drill House over the coming months. You’ll get to see them at this year’s Out There Festival and can get a sneak peek at them beforehand. See P5.

THE GREAT OUT THERE T-SHIRT COMPETITION With the 10th Out There Festival only a few months away, we’re launching The Great Out There T-Shirt Competition. A chance for artists and designers to create a work of festival art that will become the official Out There Festival T-Shirt for 2017 and worn by discerning festival goers across the land. The winning design will receive oodles of prizes so take a trip to seachangearts.org.uk to find out how to enter.

BALLYHOO RANGERS

COMING HERE... BECAUSE OF OUT THERE The Out There Festival continues to bring people to the town. At 2016’s festival 43% were daytrippers coming from outside the borough, from the wider region. 16% (that’s about 8000 people) came from beyond the region! The economic impact of the festival (that’s the amount of money visitors bring to the town’s economy) was up this year too - a figure of £1.1m. While Out There remains very much a Great Yarmouth event, we want to encourage more and more people to visit the town over the coming years. Spread the word!

We love what we do and we hope you do too! We want to bring news about The Drill House, and the Out There Festival to more and more people... and we need your help. We’re looking to recruit Ballyhoo Rangers, a dedicated team of volunteers to distribute brochures, posters and flyers in their local area, occasional marketing support at The Drill House or festival, and generally talkingup all that’s good about our work. We’re particularly keen to hear from people able to distribute in the Nelson Ward area of Great Yarmouth and in the towns and villages around the town. So, if you like getting out and about, have a few hours to spare and want to help us grow, visit seachangearts.org.uk for more info.

ARTISTS - BE FABULOUS! We’re on the hunt for fabulous festival artists and makers. People with outrageous, amazing ideas for ‘out there’ festival décor to adorn the festival park.

If you have an outstanding idea for a décor project for this year’s festival, visit seachangearts.org.uk for further info.
