The team finished eighth, had three runners finish in the top 100, and all seven participants set 2009 season-best times. Flynn posted a time of 24:43 in the 8K event as he outpaced the rest of 322-person field that consisted of teams and competitors from Division I and II schools in addition to other DIII competitors. He finished just four seconds ahead of the LC all-time record that he set last season, and his time shatters the previous 2009 season-best time in the ODAC of 26:03. Junior Ryan Van Alstine (Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park) established a new career-best time, crossing the line in 25:49 for 33rd place, surpassing the previous ODAC seasonhigh and blew out his previous career-best time of 26:23 he established last season at the Pre-NCAA South/Southeast Region meet. Freshman Nolan Compton (Manassas, VA/Osbourn Park) ran the top time of his young career, running the event in 26:21 for 76th place. Brian Robinson (Sterling, VA/Potomac Falls), Brandon Demers (Cypress, TX/Leonardtown), and Daniel Cutright (Montpelier, VA/Louisa County) each continued the torrid pace as they finished in under 27 minutes. Robinson placed 106th at 26:34, Demers came in 135th with a time of 26:48, and Cutright finished with a time of 26:54 for 153rd place. Lawrence Minor (Mineral, VA/Louisa) closed out the field for LC with a time of 27:19 for 196th place. Lynchburg hits the ground running again on Saturday, October 10, at UVA-Wise in Wise, VA. ###
