For Immediate Release- 3/20/10- #307 LC Women’s Track Competes at Lynchburg College Invitational FULL RESULTS LYNCHBURG, VA - The Lynchburg College women’s outdoor track and field teams opened up their season at the Lynchburg College Invitational on Saturday. Ashley Allen (Richmond, VA/Hermitage) threw the hammer 40.70 meters, and Kathleen Abell (Sandy Springs, GA/Blessed Trinity Catholic) and Sarah Koehn (Parkton, MD/Hereford) tossed the discus 32.65 and 32.64 meters respectively. Jessica Gibbs (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) had a jump of 5.24 meters in the long jump, and Kelsey Shelton (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest) cleared 1.55 meters in the high jump. Two Hornet 4x100 meter relay teams competed. The team of LaCear Hubbard (Madison Heights, VA/Amherst County), Christina Washington (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook), Gibbs, and Daphne Desrosiers (Pembroke Pines, FL/Killingly) boasted a time of 50.05 seconds while Kyra Richardson (Midlothian, VA/Midlothian), Krystle Landes (Staunton, VA/Wilson), Shawn Jackson (Virginia Beach, VA/Floyd E. Kellam), and Ashley Ramey (Richmond, VA/St. Gertrude) ran the event in 50.36 seconds. Washington also sprinted the 400 meter dash in a time of 58.37 seconds while Desrosiers ran the 100 meter dash in 51.19 seconds. Mel McFayden (Ipswich, MA/Ipswich) posted a time of 1:07.60 in the 400 meter hurdles. The 4x400 meter relay team of McFayden, Ramey, Gibbs, and Washington won the event with a time of 4:00.52. Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale) completed the 1500 meter run in 4:56.99. The track team travels to Lexington, VA, from March 26-27 to participate in the Washington & Lee University Track Carnival. ###
