Adrian opened up the game with a 3-1 lead with 19 minutes left in the first-half, but Lynchburg rattled off 10 straight goals to break open the contest. Christina Tran (Sterling, VA/Severn) notched eight saves during the game-changing run. Adrian didn’t back down and scored six of the last eight goals to try to spring their own comeback. Lesley Buckingham (Herndon, VA/Herndon) posted three goals and three assists, and Kathryn Ollice (West Chester, PA/West Chester) contributed three goals. Freshman Julie Will (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) tallied two goals and one assists in her collegiate debut along with making two of three free position shots, and Morgan Logue (Barrington, IL/Barrington) found the back of the net twice along with three draw controls. Tran had an outstanding game in net, tallying 16 saves and seven groundballs, and Katie Reynolds (Alexandria, VA/Bishop O’Connell) forced three turnovers. Rachel Johnston scored three times for the Bulldogs, Lindsey Day posted two scores and one assist, Amanda Lambert provided two scores with four draw controls and three caused turnovers, and Stacey Birlson tacked on two helpers. Laura Finrock posted five saves but allowed 12 goals in net. Adrian held advantages in shots (30-29), ground balls (21-16), and draw controls (13-11). Each team struggled on clears with the Bulldogs succeeding on 11 of 20 tries compared to 12-23 for the Hornets. The biggest difference maker came in free position shots and saves. LC converted on four of seven free position shots while Adrian was 0-3. Additionally, LC notched 16 saves compared to just five for Adrian. Lynchburg hosts Greensboro College on Wednesday at 7 p.m. on Shellenberger Field. ###
