For immediate release – 1/23/2008 - #169 Hampden-Sydney Rallies to Defeat Lynchburg Men 80-71 HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA – The Hampden-Sydney College men’s basketball team came back from a 12-point halftime deficit to defeat Lynchburg College 80-71 Wednesday night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) game. Sophomore forward Mason Wooldridge (New Canton, VA/Fork Union) scored a teambest 20 points for LC, 18 in the first half. Senior forward Evan Fancourt (Greensboro, NC/Grimsley) added 15 points and Kwame Safo (Vienna, VA/George C. Marshall) had 12 points. Troy Kaase posted a game-high 34 points on 16 of 22 shooting for Hampden-Sydney (95/3-4 ODAC) and grabbed nine rebounds. Tiger forward Turner King scored 17 of his 24 points after intermission to fuel the come-from-behind win. The Hornets (3-10/1-6 ODAC) host Washington & Lee University Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in another conference game. The Lynchburg women’s team starts off the doubleheader Saturday with an ODAC contest at 3 p.m. against Guilford College.
