FOCUS Staff and Volunteer Bulletin December 2013 GLADYS HARRISON, CHAIRMAN Christmas is approaching and the work of the Hospice is very poignant as families join together to celebrate this most special time of year. During the last twelve months we have seen the praise for what we do expressed so eloquently in letters of thanks to the staff and volunteers, who have ensured that the families and loved ones in our care receive the true meaning of palliative and end of life care. The Chief Executive and Board of Trustees have worked with you to ensure that our families benefit from the privacy and dignity of single rooms in the clinical environment; that we continued to keep our doors open during this time was a tribute to you all. The Hospice continues to expand its services and we will, with your continued excellence, strive to meet the future challenges of an increased elderly population who will require our care. Next year we say goodbye to Alun Davies, who has served us well over the last eight years as our Chief Executive. Together you have placed St David’s Hospice at the forefront of palliative care in North West Wales, but most importantly you have given so much comfort and peaceful memories to families who came to us in distress It is a privilege to be part of this team and on behalf of the Board of Trustees I offer a sincere thank you and wish you all a very happy Christmas. Gladys Harrison, Chairman

This year we will have raised over £300,000 thanks to the support of over 11,000 regular players in the Lottery. On behalf of all the Fundraisers, I would also like to thank the St David’s Hospice staff in the Catering Department, Distribution Unit, Hospice Shops and Clinical Departments for all their support. Many of you have taken part in events and challenges to help us raise the much needed funds for the Hospice. This year we have raised over £300,000 through Community Fundraising and Hospice initiated events with more still to come in – many thanks to the local community and businesses who have shown their continued support – we are looking forward to the new events in 2014!
