His Holiness The Dalai Lama with Lama Zopa Rinpoche

The sacred relics were collected by Spiritual Director of Maitreya Loving Kindness Tour Lama Zopa Rinpoche. His Holiness, the Dalai Lama personally offered eight relics of Shakyamuni Buddha. Contributions were received from many living Buddhist masters from a number of traditions and countries from Burma, Indonesia, France, Thailand, Tibet, Korea to Taiwan. The relics are believed to have been found in ashes of cremation of Buddha & Buddha masters. They are said to embody the spiritual qualities of compassion and wisdom of Buddha & Buddha Masters.

The relics on tour are clearly visible, and can be viewed as beautiful luminous pearl crystals. The relics are encased in display cases placed around a life-size, golden statue of the Maitreya Buddha, who according to Buddhist scriptures, is the next Buddha to bring teachings of loving-kindness to the world.

A gallery of worldwide pictures can be seen here: http://www.maitreyarelictour.com/gallery/

Blessings are given to all who request them. Visitors are given the opportunity to be personally blessed in a blessing ceremony that includes placing specific relics their head. Two to three relics are chosen to confer the blessings. A large number of people request personal blessings for themselves or for their family members or even their pets. The blessing ceremonies are held over the period of the exhibition, blessings are conferred by ordained Buddhist monks and/or nuns.

Effects of exhibits on visitors It is believed the relics evoke feelings of loving kindness, peace and happiness in people who go to see them. It is a strange but true fact that many visitors often report experiencing a feeling of being inspired, a calm healing and profound feelings that are personally transformational and intense for them, while in the presence of the relics. Relics are described at http://www.maitreyarelictour.com/relic-collection/

Maitreya Loving Kindness- Buddha Relics Tour ͟͢͠͞ Spreading the message of peace, harmony & happiness Cultivating and meditating on loving kindness is, according to Buddhist tradition, the basis of respect, peace and happiness both individually and globally. The Maitreya Loving Kindness tour hopes to have as many people as possible view the sacred relics. It is hoped this will promote unity and harmony between people from all religious beliefs and spiritual traditions. The aim of the tour and exhibits is to promote the message of peace and happiness to an ever increasing group of people everywhere. Eventually, the relics will be kept enshrined within a 150-ft/45-m bronze statue of Maitreya Buddha to be built in Bodhgaya, northern India. See the Maitreya Project (http://fpmt.org/projects/other/)
