Understanding the Data Rating Average: The rating average is simply the average of the feedback results on a four point scale with 4 being the highest possible score (Strongly Agree) and 1 being the lowest possible score (Strongly Disagree). Selections of “Does Not Apply or I Do Not Know” were not factored in the calculation of the score. Percentages: A percentage based result is given for each individual question in addition to the raw number total. This is a percentage of the total number of responses for each choice including “Does Not Apply or I Do Not Know”.

Purpose Scottsbluff Public Schools chose to conduct a survey of parents of all students in the district do determine parental opinions and levels of satisfaction of three key components that drive student achievement, Quality of Education, School Climate, and Parent Involvement and Communication. The questions were developed by a team of staff members at the District. A hard copy survey was created and copies were distributed to teachers to send home with students. Parents with more than one student were instructed to fill out one survey for each school building their children attend. The survey was distributed in March of 2013. One thousand, four hundred twenty one (1,052) surveys were completed. Melissa Price, Communications Production Specialist for the district was responsible for tabulation of and summarizing the results of the survey by school building. No personal information identifying parents or students was collected for the survey. The identifying characteristics of the individuals responding were the school building of attendance and the grade level of student or students.
