HOTEL AND SPA

Professor: Dalman

INNER HARBOR

Fall 2012 Milwaukee - Inner Harbor

_The driving force for the hotel and spa was that of making many intimate spaces for the public, which I feel Milwaukee lacks. _Pushing into the river creates a greater connection with the water, that is also very limited in Milwaukee. _The design was based off lines framing spaces and objects. All of the lines help to create a singular space within the greater scheme. _My process was to achieve an overarching intimacy through many different models and seeing how much the land could be moved and tessellated to create all of these desired spaces.

Journey

KERN PARK ELEMENTRY SCHOOL Professor_Khorshidifard

Spring 2012 Milwaukee - Kern Park

_My concept for the elementary school was that of journey, not only through the site and building, but one of growing up with their school and their friends. The concept came from the layout of the existing trees and seeing how those trees created spaces of their own. _The tree canopies created this enclosed elevated space while underneath them the trunks created more implied spaces. _From this I decide to make the school shoot out from the landscape and act as the tress do with elevated enclosed spaces while creating its own unique space under the school that lets the land interact with the school as much as possible.

TECTONICS FOR A FRAME Professor_Hoffman

Fall 2012

_For the frame we were given a word to create a drawing around preset objects in the space. From there we were to create a small fragment using the same concept. Steadily we rose in scale to include the entire drawing and create the rest to act as a frame. _The whole idea from the drawing from the extension of the fragment was to create a center within each area. However, the very middle of the drawing’s center was shaped by other areas, where I inserted the extension of the frame into. _Since the fragment and the extension impede on this territory the need for a non-orthogonal landscape was needed. The landscape acts as a crack within the very strong square forms of the rest of the field and acts to better tie in the extension to the rest of the frame.

ADUDITORIUM FOR A FRAME Professor_Hoffman

Fall 2011

_The auditorium was treated as an extension to the building. Acting as a muted version of the rest of the building, the tectonics begin to merge their forms from sitting on top of one another to slipping through each other. _The outer wall continues the verticality, however, on the inside those panels turn horizontally to break up the light within the space. _The tearing tectonics act as sound and light baffles creating a new type of rhythm on top of the regular rhythm of the structure, as well as having a reveal on the floor to see the connection of each system.

BENCH FOR THREE OR FOUR Professor_Bridgewater

Fall 2012

_This bench was a wedding gift to my sister, brother in law, and nephew so that they could grow as a family together and whatever additions they might have to their family. _I took the original concept and added an extension to sit three or possibly four to create a better environment for a conversation. Within the negative spaces the object is intertwined with its surroundings.

A MEMORY FOR TWO Professor_Brauner

Spring 2012

_This project I took normal cotton paper which was then died and then stamped with ink make from the shape of bottle caps. _What I want to convey with this project is that of an abstraction of memory. By taking Original memory in the middle and having it faded. _As you move out you experience the good part, the bad part, and finally the new part formed from the actions you took with that memory to create an entirely new memory.
