Mr Virtual World 2013 Photos by Enzo Champagne 17
Didier Rascon : Hello Erik and thank you for accepting this interview for MANSHOTS. First of all, can you tell our readers who Mr. Virtual World 2013 is?
Erik Bayn : Hello Didier and thank you very much for having me in your magazine. I am very honored. My name is Erik Bayn , and the 6th of july 2013 I have been elected Mister Virtual World 2013, meaning I’ve been elected like the most sexiest gentleman of the grid … I know it sounds pretentious lol ! But this is the title I have won and I am very proud of it.
DR : What is Mr. Virtual World about? Can you tell us a bit more about your title?
EB : MrVW is a pageant owned by BOSL and MVW organization. The first Mister was elected in 2009 and so I am the 5th one to hold the title. Being a Mister means some responsibility to represent BOSL as good as possible. It means also that I am now a professional model and that I can be called to model for some fashion shows or to help designers in posing for them on pictures or whatever media. But it’s a lot of fun and a great chance
DR : Why do you think you’ve won this title? What sets you apart?
EB : I really don’t know … I did my best for this contest and I tried to take strength from all the critics I could have receive to grow. All the guys in the contests were amazing and most of them already models … but maybe being fresh in the industry gave me a better view on the contest and so I could express my creativity without any obstacle. What I know is that I have impress the judges, and I guess this is all what they were expecting
DR : The new Mr. VW 2014 pageant is running actually … what advice would you give to the contestants ?
EB : First of all i will tell them to have the most fun possible during the competition. This is a tough pageant and it’s going to be really hard for some of them. The most important is to keep in mind who you are and what you want to show to the judges. Don’t try to copy the others cause it’s the best way to fail. Then be careful with the themes that you have to style and do your best !
DR : Now that you are one of the most sexiest man on the grid and a known person, how do you feel ?
EB : I still feel the same than before, but maybe something changed … I have never think I was a celebrity or whatever because most of the people on Second Life never heard about me ! If you asked me this question 6 months ago I would have say I feel amazingly great because it was really good to change something in my SL. Today I can say that I feel tired, physically and mentally … It’s hard to pay attention every time you have to say or to do something, because some people are always waiting for a mistake from me to hurt me ! I never thought it could be so hard ...
DR : What makes you someone unique?
EB : My uniqueness is maybe my sex-appeal. I am someone that tries to stay sexy in every occasion and it’s how most of the people see me now. I don’t hide it cause I am like that in RL too and it’s how I feel good.
and I really wish I can show that we can be very sexy even with lots of muscles. My customers are mostly gay men that are not at all from the fashion industry! They come on SL to have fun with their friends, going to parties and doing role play games. I use to receive requests from my customers to model for me, for the vendors and/or posters of my store. So I have create a model group and I did a casting to let the guys know they could apply for being model for my brand. And someone I thought was my friend published this casting on Facebook saying that I was doing porn, that a model like me can’t do something like that, that this casting was a slap in the face for all the second life models ! The most funny thing is that this person knew about my store and about the kind of clothes and brand I was having since last year … but now he has decide to destroy me on social network just because he feels bored ! I am not ashamed of who I am, and I won’t change !
DR : Thank you very much Erik for your time and your words. Is there anything else you would like to say to conclude this interview?
EB : I would like to thank everyone that has support me for one year and I hope I was a good friend enough for them all ! I don’t know now how life will be but I can tell that I will enjoy some vacations lol! To all my friends, I want to say how much I love you. To all my haters, I want to say how much I don’t care. And to all the manshots readers, I want to wish you all a wonderful summer”
DR : Besides Mr. VW, you own a store named BAYN’S and recently you have been attacked because of that! Can you tell us a bit more ?
EB : I am the owner of a store named BAYNS, yes! It’s a store with male clothes for l’UOMO avatars only. I really enjoy doing sexy clothes for men 22

UNDER MY SKIN GETTING NAKED
By Jai Raleigh
Ok, so, you’ve finally kind of figured out how to tweak your avatar’s shape for Standard Sized mesh clothing. You’ve chosen a Standard Size, and now stuff basically fits off-the-rack, more or less, with a bit of minor adjusting here and there. Woot! Unfortunately, you’re not always wearing that sweet mesh clothing. With luck, you occasionally have no option but to get naked. Maybe you’ve landed at a nude beach. Maybe one of your fab, perverted friends has invited you to a hot group sex orgy. Whatever the reason, you’ve detached the duds and…you do not like what you see. For example, if you’ve chosen a hipster, Standard Size Small shape, the profile view of your naked butt is likely pancake-flat and highly uninspiring to that hunky Top with whom you’ve been relentlessly flirting: If you’ve decided to supersize your physique to a Standard Size Extra-Large, the profile view of your junk likely includes a massive, tumorlike hump directly above the goods:
Instead of looking deliriously edible and squeezable, like this:
Instead of the classic, sleek, tight and toned lower belly:
Even if you’ve opted for a medium-muscular Standard Size Large shape, you may suddenly realize that your unclothed body has vaguely childbearing hips like this:
Instead of streamlined, power-fucking hips like this:
Before you run, screaming, from this opportunity to socialize in a myriad of ways – from nature -loving conversation to full-on hedonistic pleasure-seeking – please consider this civilized option: CREATE A NAKED SHAPE! Yes! With a minor bit of modifying, you can build a rocking naked version of your avatar based on your existing Standard Size shape and it’s as easy as One, Two Three :) Please note, your original Standard Sized shape must have copy and modify permissions in order for this to work! Before we start, you’ll need to do this: - Go someplace where you can be naked in private Find your basic (Standard Sized) shape in your inventory (if you’re even remotely organized, it’ll likely be in your Body Parts folder). Right-click on the shape and choose “copy” from the drop-down list Create a NEW folder, and name it “Naked” (a great location for this “Naked” folder would be inside either your “Outfits” folder or your “Clothing” folder – but that’s your choice)
Right-click on the new “Naked” folder and choose “paste” (a copy of your shape should appear in the new folder) - Right-click on this new copy of your shape and choose “rename” from the drop-down list. Name it something clever like, “Me – Naked” Right-click on the new “Naked” shape and choose “wear” - Remove all your clothing, so you can see what you’re doing - Right-click on your naked avatar - From the pie-chart, choose Appearance - From the next pie-chart, choose Edit Shape - When the Appearance/Editing Shape box pops up, choose the Legs tab - Scroll down about halfway in the Legs tab, and you’ll see sliders for Butt Size, Package and Saddle Bags. BINGO!
Now, here are the three magic steps to finessing your naked fabulousness:
STEP ONE – BUTT SIZE : STEP TWO –PACKAGE: : If you’re an ass-man at all, you’ve probably noticed that Standard Sizes generally tend to flatten our butts – especially in the Medium and lower sizes. For your new Naked shape, cam back so that you’re looking at the profile view of your avatar FULL-LENGTH (not just at your ass, silly). Now, nudge that slider up and watch your butt blossom to its full, glorious hotness.
That crotch “bump” is a carryover from the first days of SL, before some clever designers came up with the concept of prim “bulges” for pants. Prior to that, our best hope of looking like super-hung studs lay in bumping up the Package slider – as ridiculous as it appeared.
How far you push it is a matter of personal taste, but do try to keep the overall proportions of your full body in mind.
A brutal side-effect of this was the deformed profile view of a guy’s naked pelvis. For your new Naked shape, just pull that Package slider waaaayyyy back.
You can easily go to 65 or 70 on the slider without breaking a sweat. Lots of guys push it right to 100 (and gripe because they wish there was a 150). Don’t you feel better already?
I set mine to 0 (zero), and I think I look smokin’ hot in bed. My lick-able prim cock is enough for me. I don’t need a second bump riding above it.
EXTRA HINT: Consider keeping copies of your prim cock and cock HUD in that Naked folder, along with your new Naked shape. When those golden opportunities arrive, it takes literally seconds to right-click and “Add” the entire folder, then right-click and “Remove” the outfit folder you were wearing previously. Ta-da! Hot, naked you! Now, go out there and enjoy your fabulous, naked self :)
STEP THREE – SADDLE BAGS: This will be most useful for guys who’ve chosen Standard Size large or extra- large. Unless you’re planning on playing the lead in your local theater’s upcoming revival of Hello Dolly, you really don’t need that hourglass figure. You need the higher Saddle Bags settings to make your pants fit, but when you’re naked, pull those Saddle Bags sliders back! Again, the amount is a matter of personal taste and, again, you should view the full length of your avatar. Don’t simply focus on the hips. Overall proportion is everything.

Didier Rascon : Hello Miro Collas and thank you for giving some of your time for our readers. Before starting this interview I would like to say that I’m a big fan of your products, especially the l’UOMO Mesh Avatars.
more compatible with existing items, via hide/ show of the mesh. At first, I had no plans on selling, I just made it for myself, and started wearing it all the time. And I got feedback ... some, not much. A few people suggested I sell the avatar.
So, could you tell us a bit of who is Miro Collas?
Since the first one was not all that well made, I redid it from scratch, and the first L'Uomo avatar was born: Steve.
Miro Collas : Hi! And thank you, I'm very glad to hear you like the avatars! :-) Oh boy... who am I? Just an average gay guy who loves SL, making stuff, exploring, helping out with Firestorm support, or spending time in my forest home. (Can you tell I suck at this kind of question?)
DR : Since when are you in Second Life, and when exactly did you start to create your business?
MC : I joined SL in 2007, so I've been around a while. (And I've always used this account; I don't use alts other than for taking pictures sometimes, or to help with some work project.) I started selling just a few months later, though I don't remember exactly when. Digital art. Animations followed not long after that, and gave the business its current name.
DR : You’re known mostly for being the creator of the l’UOMO products. Can you tell us how came this idea to you on creating muscular mesh avatars?
MC : It started on a whim, really. Mesh avatars were just hitting SL. I bought a few; some were great, some less so. But a big problem was clothes and skins. So I decided to make one for myself that would be
DR : This must be a long process of creation … can you give us some information on how you create your mesh avatars? Or this is totally secret?
MC : I can say I use Avastar for rigging the mesh model. And that it is long and very tedious work, mostly involving meticulous editing of the mesh, one vertex at a time (my favorite parts are also the most work: pecs and butt). Each avatar was made from scratch, as opposed to modifying existing ones. I did this to ensure that they really were unique, different from one another.
DR : If I’m not wrong, you have create 6 different size of avatars. Are you planning on creating more shapes? Or maybe developing more different products?
MC : Currently, there are 10 avatars: 6 "regular", 2 "SE", and 2 "Flex". The "SE" (Special Edition) avatars have much more detail in the mesh model compared to "regular"; "Flex" avatars have, well, muscles that can flex. ;-) There are more Flex models coming, because they have been requested. The issue becomes more one of seeing what the demand is, what people would most want.
DR : In your opinion, what makes the big success of your mesh avatars?
MC : Heh - I could flatter myself by saying that it is the quality of the work. ;-) I think, more realistically, that it boils down to two things. Firstly, L'Uomo avatars now span a wide range of body types, from defined swimmer build, to beyond-real super muscled. ;-) And secondly I think it is the business model I adopted: I decided to create a secondary market, rather than trying to do it all myself. I n other words, I make the actual mesh avatars, while skins and clothing are all third party. The result of this is a much larger variety than I could ever hope to do on my own. Each L'Uomo designer brings his/her own creative style; many of the things being offered are items I would never even have thought of making. This means that L'Uomo customers have a broad range of options: from casual human, to fantasy and furry. I had decided to go this route from the very beginning. But back then, I had no idea I would be making more than just a single avatar.
ing L'Uomo appliers (HUDs). But then, perhaps their customers have not asked them to. Maybe they are unaware of the market for L'Uomo appliers. So folks, if you want your favorite designers to make items for L'Uomo, ask them! ;-) (Designer kits are free, by the way, available at the in-world store.) Lastly, if you do start designing for L'Uomo, get in touch, I can help promote your work. :-)
DR : You are also the creator of many other products for your brand ANIMATIONS RISING. You must be a very busy man!
MC : Well, bear in mind that the business has existed for many years. So I have generally focused on one product line at a time. Living Light was a huge one for a while, but interest in that faded, so I yanked the entire line a few months back. In other words, I've done a lot, but over a long period. And while some product ranges have done well (Living Light, Rising Silks, L'Uomo), others have been a total disaster. As always, live and learn. :-)
So there were things I could have done differently back then, had I known how things were going to pan out. L'Uomo has been a huge learning experience. I am grateful to those designers who stuck it out with me.
DR : You also give the chance to many designers to create several clothes for l’UOMO. Is there any advices that you’d like to give to all those designers?
MC : Hum, yes, a few. First, be true to your style. Your unique vision will set you apart from other designers. BUT having said that, look at the market: what is already being made? What do customers want more of? For example, currently, there seems to be a demand for simple casual wear. Where there is demand, there is a niche you can fill! Skins are also needed. To my surprise, very few known skin designers have shown interest in mak55
DR : How do you see your future in Second Life? Is there any new project still in your head that you would like to make it real in the future?
MC : No new "brain storms" at the moment; inspiration comes when it wants to. ;-) I recently released a "Solo Fun" cushion for men, but I don't see that evolving into a major product line. I don't even know where the idea came from... I just suddenly thought to make it, so I did. We'll see what the future holds.
DR : Thank you Miro Collas for your time and for your answers. Manshot is really happy to have you in this third issue. I’m giving you now the last words to conclude this interview.
MC : OK yes, one important thing. I would like to sincerely thank all of my customers, for helping make L'Uomo a successful product line. I would also like to thank the designers, especially those who started right at the beginning and have stuck with it throughout. I can still hear some groaning, "oh no, not *another* new avatar!" ;-) And thank you, Scott, for asking for this interview!

Similar to the style explosion in male fashion, male hairstyles have also grown in variety. Over time most men have tended to keep their hair short, but there are a wide variety of hairstyles to choose from. Each year we see women's hairstyles change dramatically, but for men it’s not at all like that. Men's hairstyles display a more gradual evolution primarily borrowing the base style from the trends that were popular in previous seasons. Despite that, they always appear with some new touch giving each hairstyle a newer and more modern look. This year we watched the revival of popular hairstyles appear that previously inspired the decades of 20’s, 50’s, 60’s and even the 70’s. MANSHOTS conducted a search for what’s hot in 2014, and here are our choices. * SLICKED BACK UNDERCUT * Most of you know this hairstyle as Brad Pitt’s controversial look. Hated by most of his fans, was style was forced on Pitt as a “no choice” for the upcoming movie “Fury”. This hairstyle, sporting a buzz on the back and sides and length through the top, is a revival of the hairstyle of the 20’s and 30’s.
* ROCKABILLY * Inspired in the 60’s and revived in 2013, this style is the Elvis Presley or James Dean hairstyle and it seems that the rockabilly or New Order look will be continued as a fashion trend this year. This hairstyle of a shorter nape and sides with a voluminous quiff will adapt better to those who have straight or slightly wavy hair.
* SLICKED HAIR WITH A SIDE PART * Brought back in 2009 with AMC’s TV-Show “Mad Men”, this 60’s inspired hairstyle, despite it's conservative nature has garnered the appreciation of even younger men. Styled neat and tidy, this hairstyle continues to be timeless.
* Waves and Curls * Hairstylists didn’t ignore the men that don't have straight hair. Natural and messy with short waves or curls, this hairstyle became a trend some years ago but it seems it's here to stay. Reminiscent of the 60's quiff or topknot but with less height, this hairstyle reflects both a stylish and modern look
* SHORT CHIC * If you don’t want to waste time with you hair in the morning, then the short chic is the hairstyle to pick. Cut very short to reflect an edgy look, it’s the ideal haircut for men that have more rebellious or thicker hair.

TOU-GEN-KYO The Old is New Again by Divisive Resident Photos by Alex Avion 68
akeshi Bigbear has been gracious enough to offer us all a new playground with a wide variety of events, activities and opportunities by reopening the remodeled tou-Gen-kyo sim last month. While there are many nooks and crannies to hideaway in intimate and discrete settings with gay friendly poses, this is NOT, by any means, a cruise only sim. Not least amongst it's many features are the breath-taking landscaping and areas depicting Japanese culture in a 'gay only' LGBT environment that accommodates both genders. Kudos to you Mr. Bigbear for that rare nonexclusionary policy. OI! Rest assured that if you're shy about this policy the sim is large enough and well-designed for privacy, or not, as you desire. As you enter the new sim, you're greeted by a sleek and trendy mini-mall featuring the current fashion choices of vendors such at Gabriel, Salon De Glow, Hot Dive, Countdown, Drop, KemonoSystem, XYBody, [INK], Let's Get Dirty Menswear, Ohkuma-Ya, Z's, Shiki and Vitamen. That's right boys, now you can literally shop with your cock out without being a social outcast. The best of both worlds, am I right? My partner and I were allowed a sneak peak of the sim just prior to opening and spent close to two hours playing there running from feature to feature without yet seeing all of it. MANSHOTS photographer, Alex Avion, took these awesome pictures which give you a general idea of the diverse scenery and as I looked through them, I realized he caught some areas we had missed. 70
rom the spacious and sultry hyper-modern club (located above the sim and accessible by the main map at the entrance) to dance your cares away. To the beach gym to display your hot abs; to the wedding chapel for a quick quirky wedding by an entertaining scripted bot; to the beautiful mountains, ruins, jungles, caves, beaches and tea house this sim has much to offer. Multiple areas of group seating also allow for casual hangout spots or picturesque photos in unique locales. The new sim also carried forward the tgk stamp hunts with actual QUALITY prizes for the adventurous hunter. Yep, things you might wear rather than delete and FOR FREE. Make sure to check it out. I KNOW, I KNOW, I HEAR YOU. You're saying tell us about the sex right? OF COURSE the sim has that as well. Hidden gay pose overlays cover furniture in ideal locations for a private tryst or group romp. We took a moment (or many) to lounge in a small romantic gauzecovered cabana overlooking the water and enjoy the views. From the traffic I've watched filter through the sim since opening, it does indeed have some hotties to view ~ rawr!
Well, what are you waiting for? Why are you still reading this? Go! Take some time to visit the sim and peruse or pursue the variety of friendly spaces and faces. tGk also has multiple events such as contests, hunts, fashion shows and the club. tgK also recently sponsored a fashion show in partnership with Les Garcons modeling agency and the fashion giants Gabriel, Shiki, HotDive and Vitamen, so don't forget to join the group for future notices and DON'T forget your manners either, drop the owner a line thanking him. Here's mine. Thanks Takeshi! Happy hunting!

CONCHITA WURST ? By Didier Rascon 80
ide angle, tenor voice, and beats of fake eyelashes, the representative of Austria in the most viewed television show in Europe gives an unexpected face to his renowned conservative
JUGGLER GENRE In German, Wurst means "sausage". In the city, Conchita is a boy of 25 years old named Tom Neuwirth. On stage, he’s a glamorous transvestite, cross dressing activist, who has chosen to keep his beard while wearing dresses, as he refuses to settle on the choice between man and woman. Following in the footsteps of Germany, Australia, Nepal and Bangladesh; India just recognized last mid-April the existence of a third sex and the right of its citizens to consider itself neither masculine nor feminine. Austria would not go that far, but the country is enamored with this juggler genre and proud of Conchita's talents, so proud as to present him to 63 million potential viewers when the show was the most publicized of Europe. "The beard, it was a shock at first", admits Edgar BÜhm, Director of ORF entertainment. "..but it allows to evolve, it is a signal to others.
And Conchita is the first one with the greatest voices in the country. When we saw the hatred of homosexuals who broke out in Russia during the preparation of the Olympic Games in Sochi, we thought it was important to say that Austria is supporting diversity in all its forms. " However, Austria did not seem to be ahead. By showing off his beard and false eyelashes, this artist does not comply with the usual gay stereotypes or agree with most heterosexual codes. He stays a very subversive character shouting out the blurring of sexual difference. His presence at such a high level of media exposure is an unknown precedent. With the vocal power of Celine Dion and the beard of Chuck Norris, Conchita is a popular character in relation to the masses, and even sneers at some artistic and intellectual elites who refuse to take this seriously. He has imposed himself several years ago, smoothly, becoming a social phenomenon. The Austrians were the first to discover him in 2006 as Tom in Starmania (Tycoon). He was then a young androgynous man, born in the small town of Gmunden, Upper Austria, who studied fashion in Graz. On his left arm he had a tattoo of Ariel, The Little Mermaid from Disney. It is by looking like her swimming and singing loudly on his rock with Flounder, the fish companion, that he has found his vocation as a singer.
REALITY SHOW AND "NEW BURLESQUE" In 2006, while Conchita was a drag queen in evening shows and animating a show at the Arena Bar in downtown Vienna, he participated successfully in the TV reality show “The Voice.
And if there is a step back in the coming years, it will not last. You cannot fight against long-term emancipation, freedom, human rights. I tried to adapt, but I quickly realized that I was only happy when I followed my own path. I find it important to show that if you want to be a bearded lady, well, in Austria, you can! "
His tenor voice is impressive. "My childhood in the countryside was amazing", he said. "On 80% of the photographs, I was disguised as a girl. One day, I made the final step and I went to a talent show as Conchita, but under my real name. I roamed this character for a year and a half. When the curtain opened, people screamed, because they did know me only as Tom. And then I sang the song of Titanic and it was a huge success, viewers praised my transformation, and Conchita ended second. " "CONSERVATISM IS A TREND FOR THE YOUTH" "In four years, I have been insulted five times directly" says Conchita Wurst. "People respect those who have the character and convictions. When I was invited to the famous Opera Ball, one of the world's most prestigious social events, a guy completely drunk shouted at me that I was a disgrace for the country. Then he fell down the stairs and everyone was laughing at him. He was close to my heels. It was a divine moment. Yet, all days are not as easy." A Facebook group opposed to his participation in the Eurovision contest has over 38,000 members. On Russian television, they already make fun of this latest evidence of "Western decadence", and in Austria, where it is often said that "nothing good comes from the East," the most virulent attacks are still feared at the Eurovision final show, but Conchita Wurst simply sighs and beats her false eyelashes. "Conservatism has become a trend among young people", she says. "But believe me, even if they make less noise, progressive people go forward too.

HOW'S YOUR PRIDE? by Divisive Resident Tis the season again. It's coming! It's like GAY CHRISTMAS! The week of every hot thang collected in one spot to feast your eyes on..... PRIDE! Superficial, yes I know, but admit it, you thought it too. PRIDE is largely celebrated in the summer months and can range from a day to a full month. In many major cities celebrations are concentrated in the final week of June. PRIDE is celebrated around the globe ranging from it's origination in New York to Barcelona, Madrid, Boston, Lisbon, Chicago, Los Angeles, Cologne, London, Paris, San Francisco, Instanbul, Berlin, Tel Aviv, Munich, Puerto Vallarta, Dublin, Vienna, Toronto and many other metropolitan areas across the world. In the US the entire month of June is officially declared PRIDE month by the President. Notorious for open displays of the flamboyantly fabulous, PRIDE offers everyone the opportunity to publicly declare the tag line "I am here, proud and queer" and celebrate. But it's not limited to gays, PRIDE is for everyone that makes up the current alphabet soup acronym of orientations and their friends and families to exalt in that which makes each of us unique without shame. While PRIDE is widely recognized as one big hot mess of parties, parades and hotties, you may not know that it's also a time when important community organizations gather to raise funds and host events for important widely accepted organizations that support HIV/AIDS awareness; LGBT legislation and rights; medical and social issues unique to orientation; counseling; therapy; education and many other necessary legal and social advancements. The world is changing rapidly and there have been many astounding improvements on an international scale of late, but we all know there's still important work to be done for all of us to achieve equality without losing our individuality. Check out what's going on in your community and get involved if you can, even if you have to do so privately. Something as simple as acting as a private mentor to a young adult first dealing with orientation issues and his/her place in the world can alone be a monumental contribution. Ok enough of the soapbox!

The history of PRIDE parades and celebrations is well known and originally arose as demonstrations against oppression and hate in the ongoing fight for equality. But is that what PRIDE is now? What is it for you? How is your PRIDE? And what is PRIDE in Second Life? Writing this article I started to ponder what exactly PRIDE means to myself and others but before I share others thoughts on this, I'll be brave enough to share my own answer. Personally, in both SL and real life, it's my opportunity to give our nongay/bi friends and family a brief view into the diversity of gay culture and share an otherwise rarely mentioned part of our lives with them as well as get involved in the community with my gay spouse in real life. Yeah, Yeah I'm a boyscout, I know. But who cares what I think? I decided to take it to the streets and ask a few well-known Second Life public figures what PRIDE is about for them and came up with the following answers which are as diverse as the population that celebrates PRIDE. Angelik Lavecchia, SL model, stylist and Executive Editor of MANSHOTS (and my SL partner of 18 months) had this to say: "Here (in Portugal) I think it's like any party of a minority... something to shout that we are equal to others and we have pride in what we are." Didier Rascon, Executive Editor of MANSHOTS, winner of Miss Wigstock 2014, model, photographer and our princess had this to say about PRIDE: "the gay pride is always a day where we can all go out in the street and be who we really are ... it started as a fight for rights, and i hope it will be in the future a day to remember" Adham DeCuir, mayor of Boystown and organizer of their PRIDE events offered this insightful quote: "Well it's about coming together and meeting new people that you might not have had the chance to befriend before. Something kept you apart and you never had the courage to spread out and meet new people. Pride to me has always been about feeling a bit more free. The celebration gives you support to step outside yourself a bit. Pride is for everyone. It should be."

Erik Bayn, SL model, Mr. Virtual World 2013 and this month's MANSHOTS delicious cover boy gave this wonderfully candid answer: "I’ve never been a big fan of the Pride events, not feeling at the right place in the middle of all those gay guys, even if I’m gay also but I understand how important it can be for people to fight for the rights and I have to recognize their huge dedication in making our lives better in this world." According to Cody Bolero, model and host extraordinaire PRIDE means this: "Pride, in the gay context, to me means being proud of who I was born to be and of who I am today. It means living my life without embarrassment or shame and being proud that I am "special." To me it also means having respect for the importance and value of my personal character, life, efforts, and achievements" Zann Baxton, last issue's MANSHOTS cover, DJ and all around awesome guy gave me the following poignant quote: "Many of us, myself included, have struggled with who we are, and how people perceive us. When I learned to accept myself for who I am, and even like who I’ve become...I realized that it is my own voice that should always be the loudest when it comes to defining myself. That’s my concept of Pride." Jai Raleigh, hottie, MANSHOTS author, designer and owner of NOVUS Studios gave me the following heartfelt quote: "For me, PRIDE has two important functions. First, it is a salute to our progress and accomplishments as a community - an opportunity for sharing joy with old friends and new. Second, it is a reminder of how much work remains until we attain our proper positions as full, respected citizens of the planet. So, let’s celebrate today as we keep our eyes and hearts looking toward a better tomorrow!" Takeshi Bigbear, Japanese activist, Owner of the featured tGk sim and host to many great SL events artfully declared this positive message on what PRIDE means to him: "It is 'hope' for me. It is 'future' for me. A source of hope for the future."

Hope for the future indeed and that hope is expressed in each of these quotes. Whether it is on a more personal and private level or in public party mode, what's clear is PRIDE is a time to celebrate the positive and reflect on our strengths and individuality as well as come together as a community. While the fight for equality remains paramount, PRIDE IS NOT an us vs. them diva bitchfest or opportunity to advance negative political agendas of strife. Gay hate and straight hate look the same, both are negative. Is that truly the image anyone would want to display of the LGBT culture? IT IS a time to put aside differences, forget petty grievances of the past and come together with those who are both different from us and the same to create a unified front that celebrates our diversity and individuality. It is a time to put down weapons and pick up a rainbow colored flag and shout, laugh, dance, sing; to express joy and PRIDE in ALL that we are. The tag lines arising from PRIDE and other gay coalitions of the past of WE ARE HERE PROUD AND QUEER, WE ARE GAY AND THAT'S OK remain true today. So don your rainbow colored clothing and take to the streets celebrate; spend a quiet evening at home with a loved one or spend it here in Second Life at the many possible PRIDE parties and events. However, you do it, celebrate and be PROUD of who you are as you are and from all of us at MANSHOTS.... HAPPY PRIDE!

PRIDE THE SEQUEL or WHERE'S THE PARTY? by Divisive Resident
Outside the discussion of what PRIDE means is the very important question of : (drum roll please)
WHERE IS THE PARTY?
he simple answer to that is EVERYWHERE. PRIDE has gone from smaller celebrations trafficked by LGBT members and their families to mainstream. According to most major cities' reports on PRIDE attendance, gone are the days of hiding and throngs of people of every orientation are now attending PRIDE events in staggering numbers. GAY IS IN and the party is literally everywhere and anywhere this summer. If you're looking for a party in your area to attend in real life, check out the website at http:// www.gaypridecalendar.com for a comprehensive list of PRIDE events both in the US and internationally. Or, as an alternative, open Google or your favorite search site and type in "gay pride 2014" and your country and/or city's name (depending on your city's size) and from there you should find a link to the PRIDE organization that sponsors PRIDE events in your area. There are an extremely wide variety of events worldwide this summer from gay only sports events to LGBT film festivals and concerts by superstars such as Demi Lovato (LA PRIDE parade) and Jennifer Hudson (Chicago Pride Fest); LGBT art shows, date auctions, parades, parties, dance-offs and much, much, more. Relatively little time researching online can generate a list of PRIDE events in your country and a city near you.

If you can't attend real life events, no worries, Second Life brings the party to you and also has a myriad of PRIDE parties and events that are too voluminous to list here and as of the publishing of this issue aren't yet available. Here are a few suggestions of how to search them out. If you aren't already in it, join the GAY MEETINGPOINT group which allows for any LGBT sim or group to post notices to their events. Anyone can join and anyone in the group can invite others but you do need to contact the group officers for permission to post as an event sponsor and agree to a few simple rules. If you're interested in using the group to announce your event, join it, and look at the officer role tab to contact one of them for the appropriate tag allowing you to post in the group. . In addition, Boystown, featured in the last issue of MANSHOTS, has their own PRIDE events spanning over several days around late July that are always well attended and stunning builds for you to enjoy. The hotties to check out are their own brand of stunning as well. Boystown has it's own information group entitled just that, BOYSTOWN INFO GROUP and they do a fantastic job of noticing events with flyers and site links prior to their events as well as providing amusing banter and group chat during those events. Their site is boystownsl.com. Check it out.
BT pride 2013 Last, but by no means least, is the week plus of parties and events sponsored by the charitable organization SECOND PRIDE running from June 20th to June 29th. These events are open to everyone of every orientation and spread over three stages and three sims. In existence in Second Life since 2005, Second Pride both puts on the grid's largest PRIDE party, Second Pride Festival, and collects donations for various in game and out world charities that support and further LGBT concerns such as: 2007 and 2008: Approximately $11,000 US dollars were gifted to Global Giving, an organization supporting the Nyaka School in Uganda that provides free primary education and activities to children who have been orphaned due to HIV/AIDS; 2009: Approximately $6,600 US dollars were donated to Amnesty International, a well known charity that is present both in and out world and supports a wide variety of general and LGBT human rights efforts. 109
2010: $ 7,554.85 was dontated to IGLHRC (International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission) an organization which raises awareness and advances human rights and social justice world wide. Those funds included donations to Haiti that was devastated by a catastrophic earthquake that year. 2011: $1,000.00 was also donated to IGLHRC. 2013: $2,000.00 was donated to IGLHRC.
SP Pride festival 2013
In 2012 Second Pride began changing it's focus to hosting the Festival as well as beginning an effort to be the host sim for an inworld LGBT Community Center offering LGBT charity groups meeting places and contact centers in Second Life such as: Trangender American Veterans Association (TAVA); Human Rights Campaign; Free2Luv; Transgender Resource Center, Rainbow Tinies and Survivors of Suicide (SOS). This effort is ongoing and continues today. Any monies they receive first go to supporting the Festival and the Second Pride community sim and finally, if there is excess, to LGBT recognized legitimate outworld charities. In 2014, Second Pride has hosted events to generate the funds to continue that goal of housing inworld community charities including a Halloween event, Valentine's Ball, Fashion Pride, Christmas events and the Spurt 24 hour DJathon. The effort to raise funds to support the Festival and Community Center is a year round occupation for Second Pride and it's volunteers. According to Second Pride's Community Relations Chairperson, Karl Kalchek, the current Board makes a concerted effort to be representative of the entire community and continues to reach out to LGBT sims and groups across the grid to partner with them to further their goals to support the SL LGBT community.
I KNOW you're wondering why I'm telling you all this and what the hell it has to do with partying amirite? Well, I'll tell you! As you attend this years PRIDE Festival hosted by Second Pride, AND YOU SHOULD because it proves to be another fabulous series of celebrations, you will notice kiosks around party central for your donations which support both the Festival and further the goals listed above and more. If you don't have money to give, don't worry, it's FREE TO ATTEND and you might pick up a few PRIDE goodies while you're there.
Second Pride 2013 Second Pride also relies on volunteers in various roles throughout the year to provide important support functions such as security, building, hosting, Djs and more. If you want to get involved, you can check out their site at http://second-pride.com/ or join their group entitled Second Pride Festival. The Second Pride main headquarters building is located at the SP sim at Second Pride (128,208,32) There are online indicators for all of the board members on the outside of that main headquarters building. According to Second Pride Chairman, Petr Hastings-Vanbeeck, any of them should be able to point you in the right direction to volunteer your time or services. On Saturday June 21st, 10am to noon slt, Second Pride is also hosting an AMAZING PRIDE parade this year that will display a full 85 spectacular floats over a period of an hour and a half on the parade route at the Second Pride east sim. I took the opportunity to take a sneak peak at the floats with a few friends and we were entertained and pleasantly surprised at the quality and humor. MANSHOTS photographer Alex Avion's snapshots will give you a sneak peak too of just a few of these amazing floats for the 2014 SP PRIDE parade and more can be viewed at the Second Pride site @ http://second-pride.com. These floats are as close to the real life PRIDE parade floats as you can get, you don't want to miss out on this! 111
Amongst the many well crafted and richly detailed floats, and, without spoiling the event, just a few notable ones were: a large sized Simpsons Bart in leather with a sign inviting the viewer to eat what's in his shorts; a humongous floating Sesame Street Kermit in full leather regalia; a drag Peanuts Charlie Brown complete with a dress, lipstick, a bra, earrings and a lolworthy sign saying "good grief"; several New Orleans styled and richly decorated burlesque sets of Moulin Rouge, a peep show and cabaret; and, finally, my personal favorite a spectacular float with dropping male LL noobs or literally "raining men". Hallelujah!
It’s rainning men The floats are all sponsored by various vendors and the funds generated from their sponsor packages as well as player donations, provide the funding for parties and events that make up this year's Second Pride Festival and THANK YOU to each and every one of you for those contributions. I'm told by float builder FrannyDJ Dean who has a several year history of building floats and volunteers her time to Second Pride, that each float is new for the PRIDE parade this year and the overall effort has taken her and a team over two and a half months to put together including float specific music and animations for each float. The parade promises to be an event to remember. Make sure you get down there to check it out. You won't be disappointed!
Ranging over three full sims and three event stages decorated and done up in PRIDE fabulousness, a partial listing of all of the Second Pride events that are available as of the publishing of this issue, as well as locations and times is below:
In case you're wondering about attire, the Festival is on mature sims which means show it but don't blow it. Like all mature sims nudity IS allowed, but depiction of sex or sexual acts ARE NOT. BUT WAIT, THAT'S STILL NOT ALL, in addition to the parties, Second Pride has vendor stalls for their approximately thirty plus sponsors that include PRIDE special clothing and goods from a wide variety of different stores. The Festival will also be running a Pageant for the Fabulous King and Queen of Second Pride organized by SL giant and founder of BOSL and Miss Virtual World, Frolic Mills. The Pageant will take place on Sunday June 29th at 10:00 a.m. on the main stage. Contact Frolic directly for information on entering the Pageant. The Deadline for entry is Friday, June 27th.
If you've ever had the opportunity to put on your own event in Second Life you know it can be a momentous task with pitfalls and problems abounding. Now imagine that over a full nine days and three sims with vendors, security, DJ's, hosts, sponsors, charitable organizations and a huge crowd as well as funding and you have PART of an idea of the daunting task that the Second Pride Committee has undertaken for your benefit. Overall this laudable cause is well worth the time spent to attend and a large group of LGBT brothers and sisters have contributed to this organization over several years for you and I to enjoy. SO drop by and get your PRIDE on with them at this year's Festival! Dig deep into your mesh or prim pockets and drop what you can into the donation kiosks to support the cause. See you there! NOW LET'S GO PARTTTTTTTTAY! HAPPY PRIDE!
Whether it be at Boystown, Second Pride Festival or any of the other PRIDE events occurring inworld or in the real world, MANSHOTS would like to give you the opportunity to SHOW US YOUR PRIDE. GROUP SEX FUN Photography : Joseph Nussbaum
k chances are that unless you live in a bubble you will at some point be part of or at least hear about the joy that is the threesome, foursome (also known as the “fourgy”), fivesome, sixway, sevenway or the elusive ORGY.
Some guys prefer to stick to one on one but for those of us who are little bit more adventurous and who enjoy some variety group fun can be a gateway to delights that we dare not dream of.
Group fun, like it’s one on one cousin, can be amazing or a disaster so here are a few tips on making your sweaty pile ups something to remember.
Avoid couples if you can. This of course depends on the hotness scale, if Taylor Lautner and Zac Efron knock on your door go for it and send me the pictures. Couples often get a guest star in to spice up their sex life.
The problem is that if you pay more attention to one over the other then jealously begins to set in. It’s no fun sitting there nursing a boner while your would be hookups have a domestic in the kitchen. If you do end up playing with a couple, make a very quick exit after the deed is done. Don’t over stay your welcome and don’t hook up for any one on ones with either partner after the main event.
Make sure that if you are going to have group fun that you check out who everyone is playing for first. It’s no good getting naked and then realizing that you have stacked the team only with pitchers. You need to make sure you have a combination of tops and bottoms or things will very quickly fizzle.
Know your math. 3somes are great if the chemistry is right. Pay equal attention to both your partners. Being the meat in the sandwich rocks! But the danger here is that if one party member is not really in to it then it can kill the mood or you will end up one on one while somebody sits in the lounge-room watching TV. 118
Fourgys rock because you can swap and mix things up a little. They tend to end up as two couples. 5sms tend to end up as a 3sm and a 2sm in the same room. Of course it depends on the chemistry. If its 4 tops and one bottom then things really get interesting! If you end up in a 5sm then make the effort to be the “bridge”. Being the center of attention has its perks! Anything more than that and you have a real party on your hands hehe. Remember the difference between fantasy and reality. Sure the 3sm with the 2 drunk straight boys after the football is hot (a story for another time hehe), but remember the reality of what you are doing.
The internet is full of porn scenes of barebacking gangbangs, group hook ups in public places, locker-room shower scenes and orgies. It is easy to get carried away and whilst your attention is on one person another slips in. Before you know it you’re getting fucked bareback, doing something dangerous or doing something you don’t want to do. Be aware of what is going on around you. - Play safe! - Use rubbers and lube. - Make sure it’s consensual. Getting involved in the old “football team, drunken night out” cocktail is only going to end in tears. And as always have fun!
