fter five years’ planning, more than 250 recipes and countless botanical hunting forays, North Uist Distillery burst onto the scene in April 2019. It is the brainchild of two islanders, who kicked off the long road to production in 2014 when they first approached Business Gateway for advice. Now, looking back, 32-year-old Kate MacDonald, creative director, and her partner Jonny Ingledew, 35, master distiller – both from North Uist – can’t quite believe it took them so long to become the proud owners of Downpour Gin.
