or over 100 years, Reynolds Buick GMC has been a family-owned and operated automotive dealership in Covina and West Covina. Over the course of a century it has stood the test of shifting economic climates and ever-growing technological advancements. One of the main factors of the dealerships continued success is their commitment to exemplary customer service. In 1915, after buying his first car and recognizing the instability of work in the produce industry, Irven “Pop” Reynolds was persuaded to become the Buick dealer for the Covina area. At the beginning of his career as a dealer, Pop’s office consisted meagerly of a desk and a phone. Nonetheless, from the outset, he was a firm believer in the value of customer service. When Pop sold an automobile, he would personally pick it up from The Howard Automotive Company and deliver it to his customer. This laid the foundation for quality customer service. In 1922, Pop, in compliance with Buick, opened a fully operational dealership on the southeast corner of Citrus and Badillo, in Covina. The facility was equipped with four mechanic stalls and Pop was able to hire his first mechanic, George Banks. Soon Pop hired sales personnel and began selling parts and used cars. When hard times hit during WWII, General Motors shifted its auto production to tanks and war trucks. Pop was able to keep Reynolds Buick afloat through the parts and service departments.

In 1958, Pop sold Reynolds Buick GMC to his son Pete Reynolds. In 1959, Pete Reynolds decided to have the dealership sponsor legendary drag racer, Lennie “pop” Kennedy. Kennedy won several races driving a Buick, including the 1961 NHRA nationals. This was the beginning of a rich Buick racing history for the Reynolds Dealership. By May of 1964, due to increasing business, Pete Reynolds moved the dealership from the Citrus/Badillo location to its current location at 345 N. Citrus St., West Covina. In 1999 Pete sold the dealership to his son, Don Reynolds. Don continues to own and oversee its operations today. The employees of Reynolds Buick GMC in keeping with Irven “Pop” Reynolds’ original business model continue to focus on customer satisfaction. This has resulted in the creation of a very extensive customer base, which has trickled down generational lines. Today due to the dealership’s strong reputation of customer service, Reynolds Buick GMC has become a leader in GM regional sales. It remains dedicated to its loyal customers who come from our local communities, as well as distant communities throughout Southern California. When they said I could write 300 words about being voted “Favorite Plumber,” I wondered what I should write about. Should it be about how we’ve been around 65 years? Or how our team of employees are the best trained and most knowledgeable in the business? Or about how we keep our prices low and fair? But then I realized I needed to write something useful as a way of thanking people for voting for us. I thought the best way would be to share some advice that could help you avoid an unnecessary call to the plumber. So here goes…. 1. Clogged toilet? Let it sit a few minutes before flushing again. Sometimes the water will have drained and the clog dissolved. If not, try using a plunger. Place the open end of the plunger completely over the drain and move it up and down to create suction. This often makes the clog go right down. 2. Water heater not working? Look at the temperature setting to ensure it wasn’t turned down accidentally. You’d be surprised at how many people turn down the temperature before a few days away and forget to tell their better half. Or, check the pilot light if the water heater runs on gas. If the pilot light isn’t on, the unit won’t produce hot water. 3. Lower water pressure than usual at a faucet? It could be mineral build-up. Unscrew the end on the faucet tap for cleaning. Soak the aerator (looks like a screen) in vinegar overnight to loosen the build-up. If you can’t remove the aerator or showerhead, put vinegar in a plastic bag. Tie the bag around the faucet so the aerator or showerhead sits in the solution. Of course, when you do actually need a plumber, I hope you’ll remember my team and me. We’re here when you need us. any new clients first come into my office saying they “want a trust.” What those clients don’t know is that a trust is just one of the four essential estate planning documents that most attorneys recommend to ensure all of the client’s “bases are covered.” Put simply, these four essential documents are: 1. Revocable Living Trust: A trust helps your estate avoid probate court, a time-consuming and lengthy process, and allows you to choose your beneficiaries. 2. Pourover Will: A pourover will is a companion document that works with the trust to ensure your wishes are followed. 3. Durable Power of Attorney: A power of attorney specifies who you would want to make financial and property decisions for you if incapacitated and dictates what powers you give to that person. 4. Advance Health Care Directive: A health care directive specifies who you would want to make health and medical decisions for you if incapacitated and specifies what powers that person has (e.g., Do you want to stay on life support? Do you want to donate organs?). In gathering information for a first meeting, I ask new clients to bring information on the following two aspects: 1. People: Information regarding the people involved with your estate plan—primarily, your information, your family’s information, your beneficiaries’ information, and information regarding the people who will be in charge. 2. Things: Information regarding the assets you own, such as real property, bank accounts, investment accounts, insurance, annuities, retirement accounts, timeshares, and business interests. Although estate planning is by no means simple, with this basic understanding of the estate planning documents, and the information needed to begin the process, you are now far ahead of the average new estate planning client.

our-year-old’s turning five between September 2 and February 2 can enroll in Alhambra USD 2022-23 Transitional Kindergarten, a full school day program lovingly redesigned with a Purposeful Play framework to welcome these littlest learners. AUSD TK teachers have been collaborating monthly since TK began 10 years ago and are so excited. “Our TK teacher team just met with an outside play specialist to help us to imagine a different look for next year, including ways to include explorations, how to build exploration areas within our classrooms, hands-on inside and outside centers that will be inviting and engaging to our youngest students,” Marie Ibsen, Park School TK teacher said. She loves their mission statement: The AUSD TK program provides the youngest students in the elementary setting with developmentally appropriate experiences that fully engage students and demonstrate our commitment to the whole child, while extending their creativity, curiosity, and wonder. “I think that this says a lot about who we are and where we are headed with Transitional Kindergarten,” Ibsen says. Study after study shows that children who attend quality preschool programs are more prepared for school in terms of their early literacy, language and math skills, executive function, and social emotional development.
