LG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company [NYSE:OSK] and a leading global manufacturer of aerial work platforms and telehandlers, has completely redesigned its 600 series telescopic boom lifts. Two new machines—the 600S and 660SJ—both launched earlier this year at Conexpo, will be on display at booth number L11/22 during the lifting, industrial, port handling and heavy transport show; GIS in Piacenza, Italy. Both machines offer class-leading platform capacity, allowing operators to bring more tools and material to the work area,” said Paul Kreutzwiser, JLG Industries global category director, aerial work platforms. “The new 600S has an unrestricted capacity of 270kg, which represents a 20 percent increase over its prior model, with a restricted capacity of 455kg. The unrestricted capacity of the 660SJ has increased by 50 percent to 250kg, with a restricted capacity of 340kg.” Lift speeds on these new booms are faster with the ability to operate multiple functions at once significantly improved, enabling them to reach full height quickly for increased productivity. In addition, the machines are easier to transport. Their lighter-weight telescopic booms allow for multiple

transport configurations. With a properly equipped truck, two of these units can be moved at one time without an overweight permit. The new 600S and 660SJ include the JLG® SkyGuard® enhanced control panel protection system as standard equipment. The SkyGuard sensor, when activated by approximately 23kgs of force, stops all functions in use, temporarily reversing the unit for enhanced operator safety. These two new booms also benefit from extended wire rope and sheave replacement intervals - from eight to 12 years - up to 7,000 hours. Longer replacement cycles reduce maintenance costs, increase uptime, and deliver a lower total cost of ownership. A wide range of accessories and attachments

MET innovates… and with the opportunity of the new M880 series, launches a new radio remote control with an extremely ergonomic design: KRON. The new model was realized aiming at having the highest performance contained on a minimal size. Its ergonomics help the operator to have a greater freedom of movement, without compromising the safety and the comfort in the working environment. Designed for truck-cranes with 4 to 5 functions, it also suited for other mobile applications of the industry and construction sectors. The KRON is equipped with a practical clip for fast hooking on the trouser belt or pocket. You will be surprised to discover how easy and effortless it is to handle the KRON; a lightweight device that’s equipped with a compact handle, which will make any operation easier and comfortable. The new model is available in three versions: Basic, Standard and Plus, accommodating to the customers’ request and to the desired performance of their machines.

The Basic model is suitable for little cranes that need simple and basic functions; while the Standard version incorporates all previous functions of the M550 series. The top tier, the Plus version, additionally, allows the lighting of the crane beacons (if present) and features an innovation: the indication of the machine’s 90% and 100%

achieved load level by means of dedicated LEDs on the radio remote control panel. IMET listens always to what customers have to say. It then designs tailored products to meet these requests. Indeed, IMET’s flexibility to satisfy the more complex requests cannot be beaten. You may want to try it!◀

onsite, fast erection time, and the crane’s durable wind-resistance properties. “As a flattop crane, the MRT223 catches less wind than other heavy lifters making it ideal for use at a waterfront property. Fitted out with the Raimondi Deluxe R16 air conditioned cabin, the MRT223 also ensures the comfort of crane operators – a top jobsite priority in construction as it reduces operator stressors thereby increasing safety.” The MRT223, equipped with Raimondi zoning and anti-collision systems and the Trimble GS320 Wireless Wind Speed Display for the jobsite office, is tasked with lifting the development’s rebar, shutters, and skipping concrete. “One of the main challenges is that the crane can only work in the jobsite vicinity, so to respect those parameters we’ve set up the Raimondi zoning

system to the site boundary. The crane was erected using a partial lane closure while maintaining traffic flow and the safe re-route of pedestrians,” Kenny said. The second time in less than 12 months that Irish Cranes has been engaged for a highly-anticipated de-

velopment in the country; in 2016 the company was listed by industry-authority Cranes&Access magazine in the competitive “Top 10 UK Tower Crane Companies” ranking for its superior work, detailed delivery, and its advanced heavy lifting machinery offering.◀

Andreas Cremer, Manitowoc’s global product director for all-terrain cranes, said Manitowoc’s booth at the show saw great interest and it provided the company an excellent chance to converse with visitors about their specific lifting needs. “JDL 2017 was a great opportunity to showcase our velocity and innovation to some of the biggest decision-makers in the European construction market, and to also hear first-hand exactly what they need to improve their own operations,” he said. Manitowoc’s featured cranes and technologies included: ▶ Grove GMK4100L-1: The 100 t capacity, four-axle taxi Grove GMK4100L-1 all-terrain crane features a 60 m boom, the best load charts in its class and a narrow, 2.55 m-minimum width. Its compact design makes it easy to maneuver on the narrowest of job sites. ▶ Grove GMK5150L: The five-axle GMK5150L has a 150 t capacity, making it the leader in its class. Maximum counterweight for the crane is 45 t, which allows for an overall

load chart increase of up to 20 percent over the previous generation GMK5130-2. With a capacity of 11.8 t with its boom fully extended, the GMK5150L is ideal for tower crane assembly or other applications where strength at height is needed. ▶ Grove GMK5250L: The 250 t capacity GMK5250L has a 70 m boom and is the first mobile crane to feature the VIAB turbo clutch module, which eliminates fluid overheating and clutch burning while simultaneously delivering improved fuel economy. Other features on the GMK5250L include interchangeable counterweight slabs (which can be shared among the GMK5180-1, GMK5200-1 and GMK6300L); a self-rigging auxiliary hoist and the strongest load charts in the long-boom, five-axle segment. MAXbase: This new outrigger technology enables cranes to be set up on various types of outrigger bases, providing the cranes with more flexibility during positioning. This feature was first introduced on the Grove GMK5250L. Potain Hup 32-27: The Hup 32-27 re-

presents the newest generation of selferecting tower cranes. With a 4 t capacity, it can lift 1 t at its jib end of 32 m. Components > Hydreco Hydraulics

World Series Pump: the excellence of the performance The Hydreco Hydraulics group designed a brand new range of gear pumps, capable to deliver an impressive operating pressure John Melegatti

A new frontier of performance Hydreco Hydraulics have been at the forefront of Gear Pump development for many years. And the story still continues! Back in the 1990’s Hydreco created the helical series of pumps, a novel, patented product designed in part to reduce the hydraulic generated noise,

and in part to improve the robustness of the product to work in the most demanding of applications. That work continues today with the development of the World Series Pump range of product. The company recognises that customer demand is continuously evolving towards “higher product deliverables”. Good product quality

is now an expectation at a commercial price, as is the requirement to work reliably under the most demanding of application conditions. This lead the company as part of its development strategy with this new range of gear pumps, not only to continue with the familiar low noise theme and product robustness, but now to increase the pressure rating

www. scimag.news

of the product to true operating pressure of an impressive 350 bar.

A new frontier of excellence The familiar design tools and design methodology has been used and extended in the development of this range of pumps, and all possibilities have been examined as part of this process including actual product design, choice of materials, and full understanding of the latest manufacturing processes. All this of course considering a true appreciation that this has to remain a competitive product. Key to this product development program was the continuation and improvement of market leading high volumetric efficiency pumps, combined with a familiar robustness of the product which the Hydreco is well known and respected for. The World Series Pump has undergone a significant amount of both performance and endurance testing as part of the product development process to ensure that it successfully meets the design brief.

A whole new range of product The World Series Pump range will ultimately be available in 5 frame sizes with displacements ultimately ranging from 12 cc/rev through to 240 cc/rev. The range will include both Uni and BiDirectional Pumps, and Hydraulic Motors. With the usual Hydreco versatility there will be the facility to build single through to multi-stage pumps to-

WORLD SERIES GEAR PUMPS • COMPACT • QUIET • HIGH PRESSURE CAPABILITY • IMPROVED EFFICIENCY

gether with the ability to mix frame sizes within the same pump build, also allow mounting of other pump product. Currently there are pumps available within the 12 cc/rev through to 85 cc/rev. Several drive shafts and mounting flanges type are available to satisfy all the requirements from a pump configuration stand point (i.e. SAE, ISO and many others). Also port sizes cover the most common solution available in the market, guarantying the World Series Pump meet all the installation need. Particular care has been taken in the pump design to reach a very high volumetric efficiency. Furthermore the new range of pumps can operate in all the environments, with temperature range from -40°C up to 80°C.

The concept and the realisation No area or feature of this pump has been overlooked during this design process. Our engineers naturally looked at everything in current production, but also took serious consideration of latest materials, manufacturing technologies, ease of assembly, style, and processes that could benefit the new range without affecting its competitive edge, while not overlooking the large variety of market requirements in terms of customer interfaces. The use of computer aided design and analysis tools were used throughout in order to work towards the goal of making it right first time, ensuring that the first prototypes on test would need little or no modification before production release. This was a significant and successful step in compacting timescales from concept to release.

A product designed for the future The increasing of its pressure capability (now at the impressive level of 350 bar) enables the new range of pump to compete with other pump designs that could achieve those pressures, but usually at some cost premium. Another benefit of that higher pressure capability is of course the fact that when operated at lower pressures, then its life is significantly extended. The new Hydreco design provides a great benefit not only to the most demanding application of today, but it also opens the door to the future installation, where the high level of performance combined with the robustness and the reliability will clearly make the difference in machines success.◀
