Half Term 3 Curriculum Plan Fraction, decimal and percentage equivalence Convert fluently between fractions, decimals and percentages. Be able to use multiple representations for fractions. Problems involving addition and subtraction Build upon skills learnt at KS2 to work fluently with calculations. Looking at this in the context of interpreting and solving problems using addition and subtraction in other areas of maths. Brackets Equations and Inequalities Exploring the method of expanding and factorising and extending knowledge on solving equations, to include brackets and unknowns on both sides of an equation. Students will also learn to interpret questions and apply their algebraic knowledge to form and solve equations from worded problems. Sequences Generating and recognising both arithmetic and geometric sequences, including finding the nth term of an arithmetic sequence. Students will also look and appreciate other sequences that are common in maths. Foundation FDP - calculating percentage increase / decrease and finding a percentage of a quantity. Including in real life contexts Equations and Inequalities - continuing to extend knowledge on setting up and solving linear equations from worded problems. Looking at how we represent inequalities on a number line and how we can use prior knowledge to solve algebraic inequalities. Angles - Understand and apply the different angle rules within parallel lines. Students will also look into polygons and how we calculate and problem solve with both interior and exterior angles. Higher Ratio - Students extended upon their knowledge of ratio to solve problems where part or the whole ratio has been given. Students will also look at how we combine ratios where we have been given related information in the form of two or more ratios. Angles - Understand and apply the different angle rules within parallel lines. Students will also look into polygons and how we calculate and problem solve with both interior and exterior angles.
