26th January 2023 Dear Parent Carers, As part of our Key Stage 5 activity week that will take place in April 2023 we are offering the students the opportunity to participate in a residential for one night at Hartington Youth Hostel in the Peak District. During the stay the students will also be visiting Carsington Water and have the option of taking part in either a water based activity, cycling, walking or taking a look at the visitor centre and café. We have provisionally booked the YHA Hartington for the night of Thursday 20th April, returning on Friday 21st. If you would like further details about the venue at this time, please visit the website https://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/yha-hartington-hall We will leave Horizons as soon as the students arrive at 9am on Thursday morning and plan to be back at Horizons the following day, Friday for a 2.30pm finish as usual. We are asking for a contribution of £50 for the trip, the school will be subsidising the rest of the costs for the trip. The contribution of £50 will help towards covering the cost of:
Transport (travelling by minibus) Food (Evening meal on Thursday night, breakfast on Friday morning and a packed lunch for Friday) Activities (To be chosen by the students, booked and confirmed) Accommodation (A shared single sex dorm room with students from Horizons)
To secure a place, please could we ask that you pay a £10 deposit via ParentPay by Wednesday 8th February 2023. You can then pay in full or in instalments with the full amount being paid by Friday 31st March. Further details will be sent out about the trip including a date for a parents meeting, a kit list and itinerary. Two weeks before the trip, we will send out a medication consent form so that we have the most up to date information about your young person.
