Newsletter—Edition 1 Winter 2015 Calendar of Events 2020/21 Please find attached the calendar for the next academic year. Please note that some additional meetings will be added through the year. You will note that the start time of the majority of meetings for the autumn term will be 9.30am. This is as we anticipate meetings continuing to be via the online platform Zoom and want to allow colleagues time to start the school day before joining the sessions.

If you wish to suggest any changes, please do so by 20th June.

University of Liverpool Maths School Please find attached screenshots of an article and prospectus from the University of Liverpool Maths School.

Damian Haigh, Headteacher at University of Liverpool Maths School, will be running sessions at 10am every week day for 45 minutes, which will give Year 11 students an opportunity for some social interaction and problem solving, while laying good foundations for next year’s courses, wherever they plan to study them. Although it says it is aimed at Further Maths students, there will also be students present who are starting A-Level Maths and Core Maths next year.

Online Science Sessions Information on a series of online Science sessions by Pearson, that will cater for all exam boards , was shared with Science Leads on Monday and further details can be found below.

To help all GCSE-level students continue to engage with science2015 learning, our lessons will be taught by Newsletter—Edition 1 Winter Primrose Kitten, an experienced science teacher with a passion for helping students to achieve their best.

The 45-minute lessons from Primrose Kitten, will showcase science and its real-world applications.

Everyone studying GCSE-level science is welcome to join, whether they’re taking the course at school, college or remotely, and regardless of exam board.

There’ll be one lesson available to join each week. Each lesson focuses on a different topic and tailors to the various stages of science learning, so you can choose the ones that are right for your students.

You and your students can use the lessons at a time that suits – be it joining us on the day on YouTube or viewing the recordings afterwards.

Online English Lessons Please find below information from Pearson regarding a series of free online live English sessions which was shared earlier this week with English Leads.

COVID-19 support: free online GCSE English lessons As we continue to support English teaching and learning during COVID-19, we’re launching a brand-new series of free online GCSE English lessons suitable for all awarding bodies that will be going live from 03 June 2020 at 11:00am on the Pearson UK Learning YouTube channel.

What's happening when?

To help all GCSE-level students continue to engage with English learning, our lessons will be taught

by Rebecca White, a teacher for over fifteen years and currently Head of English at Oriel High School, Crawley. Rebecca has worked with PiXL, GCSE Pod and Pearson and has been an examiner for both GCSE and A level for over a decade. She is also a part of the National Writing Project's 'Teacher Writes' group, which encourages teachers to get involved in creative writing.

The 45-minute online lessons are open to individual students and classes alike. There’ll be one lesson each week that focuses on different topics and is tailored to the different stages of English learning.

NPQ Autumn 2020: Applications now open until 24th July (Repeat Item) Funding has been confirmed for the NPQs, with the eligibility criteria unchanged until the end of the academic year - which is great news.

Colleagues can submit their application by the 24th July to secure their place, remembering the following: •
