YOUR VALUE ASSOCIATION SCHA adds value for members by constantly improving quality and service without unnecessarily increasing costs, which we define as dues. In 2017, we had no dues increase. In 2018, we discounted dues 2.5 percent and initiated a new model to accurately reflect the makeup of our membership and ensure fairness. To continue this trend of reduced reliance on dues, it is critical that SCHA maintain a diversified source of revenues and a strong cash reserve. Work is under way to enhance the portfolio of business, operational and workforce solutions provided by endorsed partners through SCHA Solutions. In 2018, we hosted the first regional hospital association common market meeting to explore opportunities to import proven products from other states and promote our own portfolio. A new sponsorship program offers more benefits and greater value for participating companies, resulting in a record level of company engagement and financial support for SCHA. All Solutionsendorsed partners are encouraged to also become SCHA sponsors. The successful rebranding and evolution of Qualivis into a more comprehensive workforce solutions provider led to its acquisition by one of the largest staffing agencies in the nation
and enhanced financial stability for SCHA. More importantly, it gave Qualivis the tools to better address hospitals’ workforce needs. Grant funding generated by the SC Hospital Research and Education Foundation (SCHREF) has doubled since 2007, providing support for programs such as AccessHealth SC, Working Well, quality and patient safety improvement programs, care transitions, readmissions prevention and professional development. The Duke Endowment just announced funding to support Innovation and Acceleration, which aims to improve health outcomes by demonstrating the effect of emerging and innovative practices that are scalable and sustainable in the hospital and community. Currently, funding from The Duke Endowment is supporting the Healthy People, Healthy Carolinas initiative in North Carolina and South Carolina that aims to create effective community coalitions and data-driven solutions to health issues. All of us in South Carolina appreciate the sustained support of The Duke Endowment to improve healthcare for our citizens.
