A tonic triad in C Major would contain the notes C, E and G. note: • Kids textbook definition- A musical sound or symbol used to write music. • Google definition-‐ A brief record of facts, topics, or thoughts, written down as an aid to memory. rest: • Kids textbook definition- A sign indicating a measured silence. solfege: • Apple Dictionary definition- An exercise in singing using solmization syllables. scale: • Kids textbook definition- A series of notes that go up and down stepwise. beat: • Kids textbook definition- The regular rhythmic pattern of music. Time is counted in music by using beats. staff: • A set of five lines and four spaces on which notes are written to tell their pitch. clef: • A clef is at the beginning of the staff tells which notes are on which lines.
