CITY LIFE

The pulse of the state

We believe that downtown is so much more than asphalt and high rises. It is the pulse of the state. People work here, live here, and play here! We understand all of these functions and design every project with that thought in mind. From the modern look of the corporate offices, to the historic facades prevalent across the city, Schmidt Associates has extensive experience helping to shape our downtown scene.

CORPORATE ENVIRONMENTS

Working downtown

Visit downtown during work hours and you are bound to notice a few things. People on the sidewalks conducting business as they rush between meetings, friends reuniting for lunch, and still others heading to the local festival on the circle or square. Schmidt Associates understands your desire to be part of a thriving downtown. We can help you create an office space that facilitates your culture and makes the statement you want to make.

URBAN LIVING

“Schmidt Associates did far and above what most architectural firms would normally do. They were a true partner in the Davlan project. Schmidt Associates took a very challenging foot print, and a building that had been chopped up into 123 small apartments, and designed 50 very livable apartments and 20,000 square feet of retail space while adhering to historic preservation criteria. Their response time was second to none.” – BILL GRAY, FORMER EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, RILEY AREA DEVELOPMENT CORP.

URBAN LIVING

City dwellers

Urban living is en vogue again. Living within the heart of it all, residents appreciate the modern lifestyle, the convenience, and even the views that a city has to offer. Schmidt Associates can help you build the spaces where people want to live. From posh penthouses to affordable apartments, we have the experience and the expertise you need.

RECREATIONAL SPACES

“Overall, the aquatic center is a fantastic facility and has been a huge success. Occupancy rates for the Inn were always high during peak season, but struggled during the off season— particularly during the winter. Now, after opening the new aquatic center, occupancy rates are very high—even during the off season. The aquatic center not only looks pretty, it gets extremely heavy use.” – TOM HOHMAN, PE, IDNR, DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

RECREATIONAL SPACES

A place to play

Whether a trail, an aquatic center, a community park, or a sports complex—Schmidt Associates can assist you in providing a safe recreational or athletic experience for your school or community. Everyone knows that exercise increases your energy and play releases your creative juices. Let us create a space for you that will get it all flowing!

SACRED SPACES

Nurturing spirituality

Sacred spaces—whether they be sanctuaries, small chapels, or fellowship halls—are an extension of the faith of your congregation. To many, the worship space is the symbol of spiritual transcendence. Because of the uniqueness of each congregation, our religious facility design experts take the necessary time to listen to your ministry staff in order to develop the place of worship that is right for you.

JUSTICE FACILITIES

Justice for all

Over the years, Schmidt Associates has had the opportunity to work with more than 18 Indiana counties on their courthouses and/or annex facilities. Of those 18 counties, we have developed 11 master plans that deal with the in-depth functions and relationships of county offices and courts. All of the master plans have produced a phased approached in order to meet the Owner’s budget and time line.

“Our students, both undergraduate and graduate, tell us that it’s not always in the classroom; there are 13 classrooms that will be available, where the most powerful learning occurs. It’s those chance interactions in the hallways or in a professor’s office where they have opportunities to reflect one-on-one on their graduate or undergraduate program opportunities. So we are ensuring that throughout the building there’s intimate, professional space for those chance interactions and some powerful learning opportunities that our students tell us were so important to their experience at ISU.” – DANIEL J. BRADLEY, PRESIDENT, INDIANA STATE UNIVERSITY
