Canungra State School Green Team Canungra State School Green Team has been an important part of the school community since 2010. The Green Team recognises the importance in preserving and enhancing the natural world, and places a strong emphasis on cultivating environmental projects throughout the school. The Green Team is a collaboration between parents, students and staff with senior students encouraged to contribute to meetings with project ideas.

Projects that the Green Team have developed include: •

Canungra Creek Restoration Project

Wangerriburra Cultural Trail and Bush Tucker Garden

Food Garden and Cooking Club Projects

Composting and worm farm project for food waste

Litter audit and waste management program

Weekly gardening club is hosted to tend the productive food gardens with excess produce sold and used in the canteen. Working bees are undertaken throughout the year to improve the creek system and school grounds and align with annual environmental events such as Clean Up Australia Day. Students and their parents are encouraged to attend and contribute to make a positive difference to our unique local environment. Our world is developing and changing at a rapid pace and the kids of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Green Team projects are providing a platform for students to engage in learning opportunities and create positive change. Green Team kids are aware kids! Jodie Clifford
