SOUTHEAST MISSOURI STATE SPEAKER SERIES

On October 2nd, 2012, Lee Ann George and eleven students attended Southeast Missouri State University’s Speaker Series at the Show Me Center. General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret.) was the special guest and first speaker for this year’s speaker series. He spoke about his life, career, and retirement. General Powell was a first-generation college student who rose through the military to become a leading Army General. He was selected Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under General Colin L. Powell President George W. Bush in 1989 and in 2001 became the first African-American Secretary of State, General Powell’s story was both intriguing and inspiring to hear as he told his firsthand accounts of his military and political career that spanned decades of American history. It was an experience that will be one that everyone can forever remember.

SSS CLOTHES CLOSET Need some new clothes for your new job? SSS may be able to help! Student Support Services offers a clothes closet for students. All items are donated and are free of charge for SSS participants. The Clothes Closet is located in H2066 A variety of items can be found. Men’s, women’s, and children’s clothing, shoes, purses, ties, etc. are among a few. Come take a look! The Clothes Closet is only open during limited hours, so please take advantage of this service. You never know what you might find!
