P. 46 PHOTOGRAPHY & OBSERVATION
My design is driven by a deep passion to articulate a picturesque and narrative-evoking space that provides people with dramatic experience and gently keeps them accompany.
Fire as a way intensifies people’s emotions. Whether that is happiness, sadness, hatred or anger, the RED IN DARK motivates deep human emotions.
PALETTE I used intense, bold and strong colors and objects. For example, scarlet velvet and leather, black satin for upholstery, small scale of leopard and cobra print for accessories. The furniture and walls are very sharp in form and most of the surfaces feel cold and hard.
Hand Rendering — Entrance
ire pit: I have placed fire
physically in the restaurant, with the two different circumstances. In the bar area, when people first see the crazy and eye-catching flames, they ’re visually shocked by the atmosphere.
he large flames can make people
feel engulfed by the fire, like they are alone and comfortable enough to be vulnerable and drunk. At the same time, the flames also allow people to build the courage to approach the stranger he/she sees crying. In contrast, the lounge area with the gentle fire pit gives off a warm romantic picturesque feeling.
ouple seating in this elevated
independent glass box burnt their stuff. The smoke will be gradually filled into the hollow glass wall and turned the place into a battlefield.

SENSORY & CUSTOM
To create an artistic atmosphere, I used white translucent silk to assemble an installation as the custom ceiling. With the pendant lights being inside and outside the fabrics, it gives off direct and indirect light. The lights are about 90 CRI and 3000K to offer enough white light for task reading.
This project focused on the exploration of soft materials and techniques associated with the craft of textiles. The material and geometrical articulation explored in this project are mainly focused on the concept of AIR, LIGHT & SOUND.

PATTERN & FORM
LUCENE comes from the word ‘ lucent ’. Inspired by the lapse of flowers blooming, LUCENE is a modular system that allows the users to control light. The momentary powerful and mellow feeling of flower blossom was translated into hundreds of triangles made of silk organza. Standing on a triangle module, these pieces add a visual appeal of touching. The triangle is the basic block of LUCENE with zippers to connect each piece and the extent of unzipping allows varying degrees of light to pass through and brings lovely lighting atmosphere. This modular system can serve multiple functions, depending on the need: privacy screens, room dividers, custom ceiling and acoustical elements, or an art installation.

Non-place is coined by philosopher Marc AugĂŠ to refer to anthropological spaces where the human beings remain anonymous and that do not hold enough significance to be regarded as "places". Nonplaces don't arouse people's emotions. Examples of non-places would be motorways, airports and shopping malls.
It is a loss not keeping you eyes open and paying attention to surroundings. People should find interest in routine life. The interaction helps people feel accompanied by the environment.
The lighter blue ones represent movable doors and the darker blue ones represent immovable furnitures.I divided the whole floor into five slides with equal width and length. By pulling out these pieces,we can see the changing interior through these overlapped layers. The slender partitions develop the winding circulation, thus slowing down people's living pace to pay attention to the surrondings. By moving the movable doors, people can create the space depending on different occasions. The children's slide goes straight with the whole house, which creates a complete guard and interesting interaction.
CLIENTS' DESCRIPTION My client are a married elderly couple in their 60's with their two-year-old grandchild visting weekly. The hostess enjoys cooking Japanese food and inviting friends to home to have a tea chat afternoon. The boy is really naughty and loves playing around the house.
