Party With a Purpose
hen Seminar 2009 came to a close, we received a few questions from independent sales force members about Party with a Purpose. Let’s take a moment to review and answer some of the most frequently asked questions about this challenge, so you can share the information with your unit members.
Each day presents an opportunity to start all over again, to cleanse our minds and our hearts anew, and to clarify our vision and not clutter up today with the leavings of other spent days.
Q: What exactly is the “purpose” behind
“Party with a Purpose”? Are we raising money for The Mary Kay Foundation?
Party with a Purpose isn’t tied to The Mary Kay Foundation or any specific charitable cause. You might want to think about it this way: When you hold a Mary Kay party, you’re supporting a company that does good. Whether it’s through charitable acts of giving or helping women build a business to make their lives more enjoyable, Mary Kay has a history of helping others. By holding more parties and reaching out to more women through the products and the opportunity, you’re helping them look and feel their best – and quite possibly begin a new business that offers them newfound freedom to balance their priorities. And whether they purchase one of the Beauty That Counts TM Mary Kay® Creme Lipsticks or any other of Mary Kay’s fabulous products, your customers can feel good about supporting a company whose mission is to enrich women’s lives.
Q: How many parties do I need to hold? For Star Consultants, that 5 million party goal translates to holding at least six parties per month, and if you’re not a Star Consultant, it’s at least three parties a month as you work toward becoming a Star Consultant. As we said at Seminar, we’re not lowering the bar from
Mary Kay’s goal of five classes a week; we’re just trying to show you that this 5 million party goal is within reach. Of course, the more parties you hold, the stronger your business can grow!
Q: How do all of these goals — 5 million
parties, 5 by 50, 50,000 Star Consultants per quarter — relate to each other?
We’ve set our big, global goal of reaching “5 by 50” — $5 billion in wholesale revenues by the Company’s 50th anniversary in 2013. And we’ve determined that having at least 50,000 Star Consultants in the U.S. each quarter will support us getting there. How will we grow more Star Consultants? By holding parties! Parties help you grow your customer base, and growing your customer base will help you become a consistent Star Consultant. That leads us to 50,000 Stars per quarter and, ultimately, 5 by 50.
Q: How is the Company going to support
the “Party with a Purpose” challenge?
We’re supporting you in many ways. For example, the launch of the new “Let’s Talk” Party!SM social community on Mary Kay InTouch®, where you can find and share ideas, tips and advice about parties. We’re also supporting Party with a Purpose through a brand-new approach to the Hostess Program that can help you get more bookings, more hostesses and have even more fun (go to the Hostess Rewards page) for all of the details!). Question: What should I do when a customer orders a product that I don’t have? Answer: That is a great question! The company has worked hard to maintain a ‘dual level’ marketing structure where a consultant only purchases her products from Mary Kay’s Distribution Center (no middle man). Sometimes when we don’t have a product that a customer needs immediately we want to find the best way to provide great customer service. When a situation like this occurs we want to contact another consultant to ‘borrow’ the item from he or she. This is not a good idea! That consultant has worked hard to make sure he or she has adequate inventory on her shelf, and when you borrow, he or she may run into a situation where she needs that product for her next appointment, and now she doesn’t!
