ANAHEIM DUCKS LEARN TO PLAY Our next Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Session begins on March 5th, 2014! Registration is taking place now on AnaheimDucks.com so do not miss out! The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program offers first-time hockey players the chance to get on the rink in full hockey equipment for free. They will receive instruction on the basics of hockey as well as learn how to skate properly. Participants in the Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program will be provided with an equipment bag, helmet, shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves and a jersey to use for the four week session in order to be fully protected on the rink.

Equipment sizes are recommended for players under ten years of age. The Anaheim Ducks Learn to Play Program is offered at the following Rinks locations: Lakewood ICE, Westminster ICE, Yorba Linda ICE, Corona Inline, Huntington Beach Inline and Irvine Inline. Participants who complete the Learn to Play program and continue on in to a Youth hockey league here at The Rinks - Corona Inline will receive a FREE, complete set of Mission/Bauer equipment courtesy of Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Those that may not be ready to join a league just yet following the Learn to Play program are eligable for discounted pricing for our Youth Hockey Initiation classes. Please inqiure at the front desk today!

The use of full hockey equipment not only gives participants the feel of what it’s like to be a hockey player, but also enables them to get use to skating, wearing all of the hockey gear.

Looking to learn the basic fundamentals of hockey before you join one of our leagues or just simply how to skate? Our Hockey Initiation classes are a great teaching tool to get you ready for the next season. Designed to help beginners feel comfortable on their skates. Learn the basics of the hockey stance with proper fundamentals of skating (cross-overs, tight turns, backward skating, and stopping/starting). Will work on pivots and passing, as well as work on how to stickhandle and shoot the puck. Open to beginner/ intermediate skill levels.

Required gear includes skates and a helmet. Continuing through the new year we will continue to hold Homework Hall hours every Wednesday! From 2:306:00pm every Wednesday you can use our upstairs party rooms and snack bar area to study for school and complete your homework. Once you are finished for the day, show one of our office staff and you can play pick-up hockey or public skating that day for FREE! This new program is our facility’s effort to promote academic excellence and well rounded youth in our community. Moreover, we strive to establish a culture where kids can look to their peers with respect and become encouraged to help one another to think through issues and solve problems. Finally, this program will help to provide a safe, yet fun environment for our community’s youth to continue to learn, grow, and succeed. If interest in this program continues to increase then we may look to expand beyond just one day a week. We hope to see you here! • A cone is set just above the top of the crease, in line with the high faceoff dot. • The coach sets up with pucks on the weak-side circle. • When the coach says “go” the goalie pushes out to the top of the crease where the cone is placed, gets set in his/her goalie stance, then T-pushes across and gets set for the shot. • The coach has the option to play anyrebounds the goalie lets out.

• Iron Man Tournament (February 15th)

January’s Drill of the Month is a drill designed for goaltenders. This drill works on pushing to the correct angle and challenging the shooter in order to take away as much of the open net as possible. In addition, the drill focuses on T-pushes for effective lateral movement. This is a great warm-up for goalies before going on to more advanced drills.

Beginning Monday, February 3rd every winning team in our Youth and Adult Leagues will receive one large pizza for just $5! Certain restrictions apply. **This deal is not valid for any team that receives a major penalty in-game. Deal does not apply to victories by forfeit. Teams must be paid in full to receive their $5 pizza. Winning teams of 10:05/11:00pm games will receive a voucher good for the following week. Pizzas are for dine-in only.
